Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
Re: Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
This is where I went to find part numbers. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/BRP/J ... parts.html but for yours (the url) there isn't a power trim listed. You might have to by an add on part.

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
Re: Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
I don't see a power tilt/trim option as being available on the model number you provided. It looks like for that series of motor, having a "T" in the model number indicates that the unit is equipped with power tilt/trim as shown on the 115 and 135hp models. If it looks like it is stock on the engine, I'd bet that it is the same as what came on the 115 and 135hp models.

Re: Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
Thanks G-youdaman. Found trim and tilt, as well as tilt only kits were available through the factory. As a add (bolt on) on only option. Installed by dealer or boat owner, after leaving the factory. For my 85ESL75E, the trim and tilt kit for 73-77 model years used the same part number. Of course, this is no longer available as a new or aftermarket part. Used only or NOS.G-Man wrote:I'm betting that if you looked at the big motors, those over 100hp, that they would have it built in. Check with one of the on-line outboard parts dealers, like http://www.crowleymarine.com/parts.cfm, they usually have exploded views of all the models.
There are jack plate options available, I would suppose?
Re: Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
Yes, there are a few options to choose from. Prices will be in the $750 range for new power tilt/trim units for your outboard. When I was looking for one years ago, I had a difficult time finding a working used unit as most people didn't want to part with them. However, E-bay wasn't up and running at that time, so I'd check there for sure and see what is available. I don't think you'd get too much use out of a jack plate, unless you are trying to mount a long shaft motor on a short transom. The tilt/trim unit is what you want. It will allow you adjust your motor for hole shot and then once on plane, trim it out for maximum fuel economy and/or top end speed. It also helps a great deal to be able to adjust the trim to better handle chop/waves and eliminate porpoising.MotoBoat wrote:There are jack plate options available, I would suppose?

From the main page:Toni wrote:This is where I went to find part numbers. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/BRP/J ... parts.html but for yours (the url) there isn't a power trim listed. You might have to by an add on part.

Select "Accessories", then Johnson/Evinrude, then choose the model year in the "search accessories box", and six selectable categories pop up in the "group" box. Hidden inside the "electrical system" category, is the power trim and tilt, and tilt only models with hp ratings and lower unit length.

Found it here: Same part fits 70,75 long shaft, 85, 115, 135hp.G-Man wrote:I don't see a power tilt/trim option as being available on the model number you provided. I bought a replacement power trim motor and pump. The leaky ram seemed to fix itself.MotoBoat wrote:Toni, any idea what repairs were needed to fix your PT&Tilt?Toni wrote:Steve and Trent worked on the motor tonight. Let there be power!

Re: Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
I got roller bunks for the trailer too. But they still need to get put on.
I think Steve wants to redo the whole floor. He can't understand the way the stringers with the holes that are in them.
They didn't put resin all the way up on the stringers nor was the floor attached to the stringers.

Does the boat need a whole new floor? Are you saying: "Steve, does not know how the holes in the stringer's, drain water"?Toni wrote:I got roller bunks for the trailer too. But they still need to get put on.

Re: Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
Well the stringers should at least be coated in resin and as Motoboat mentioned, there should be a few holes/spaces where they meet the hull to allow water to drain. If you are going to take up the floor to inspect and coat the stringers, might as well replace it. Now would also be the time to add a built in fish box/hidden storage and/or a fuel tank.

Re: Ol' Girl gets a new Ol' Girl
NO. The holes in the stringers were not made to drain water. They are toward the top of the stringer. They were put in to provide air. The stringers only had resin 3/4 of the way up and the floor was not attached to them. This is the way the boat was designed. I was told it was not until 1975 that they suppose to be closed cells and watertight.MotoBoat wrote:Does the boat need a whole new floor? Steve would like to take it out and put it back closed up and water tight. That little silver hooded thing at the front of the bow is a vent and it has about 3 inch wide tubing that goes down the inside of the bow seat. The holes in the stringer are about the same width.

Toni the silver hood vent cover got clipped by forum photo settings, try attaching the photo instead of using the image option if your photos are not showing full size. I looked at the photo via photobucket image link and could see what you were talking about.
