Sweet! i cant wait to go slay some steelies!
doesn't matter what gear you use but how you use it, presentation is key remember that, matter of putting that bait infront of mr steelyhead's face just how he wants it.
that is a good deal for 45 bucks, braid itself is like $20

The Presidents are worth the full price so to get the reel and the braid for $45 was such a sweet deal.

I second that! I just picked up an extra Sahara at Cabella's for 44.95 closeout. Great reel for the money !

I don't have that one but I have a couple Tica reels and bought a couple more for my sons and they're top notch. Very precision made, even more so than a Shimano. Excelent drags.

Hehehe.... missed that by a mile! Yeah, I have the Caiman's, very nice reels. Tica was a rocket nozzle factory before going to tackle and the reels used to be ESD machined. That means to one molecule tolerance. Pretty impressive.

The guys that do the Hawg Quest TV show use Tica reels almost exclusively and though they are a sponsor of the show I have never seen an episode where there was any problems with them.

I just picked up one of those Saharas at Cabellas also! Steel of a deal(no pun intended) Reg price on it was $79. Paid $44.99. I have always used fireling but they don't have the flame green at cabelas and I had a coupon for employee pricing, so I decided to give power pro a try. Reg price is $16.99 got it for $12.74 Although nothing compared to the deal that fishingthepacnw got, that was a steal.

Sounds like a good deal for the reel and the line!! Maybe we can go test out our new gear this weekend together on the wallace?

That will work. One thing I have started to do is release the drag completely when you are storing the rods. I had one spinning reel that the drag went bad and the person at the fishing counter at Sportco told me to back them off and they will last longer.

I have a 5500 ambassedeur and I like it only problem is it reels really slow.
I also have a tica scrampler and realy like it have not had a problem other than some of the paint chips off.

I suggest a smaller one for steelhead but personally I would get a black max instead of an ambasseduer, something about those low profile reels make them really nice.

Good habit to get into. Helps eliminate a jerky drag, keeps it smooth! Another good habit is to pull line from your reel (test the drag) on a regular basis and you are less likely to lose a fish because the drag was too tight.
