right now it has some normally but around mid january the will start to come in with the bulk in march. If I were you I would fish the chuck around the corner hole and red gate right now with jigs and eggs, there got to be some chromers in there in the mix of fire truck coho.

They'll be in right now in lower conectrations around town. Try out by the Dickey Rd. an B Street park. The end of G street has a nice little slot that can hold fish this time of year.

I remember last year either december or january the plunkers along skookumchuck dam rd were killing them, I remember them pulling up there stringer and had atleast 8 steelhead for 5-6 guys all chrome too, Nate do you plunk or just drift and bobber fish.

Hahaha, that's a question that I don't have an easy answer for. I do whatever it takes to catch fish, be it bait, corkies, plugs, plunks, spinners, swing intruders, nymph egg patterns, jigs and everything in between. It's a question with an arbitrary answer. It depends on river conditions, which hole I'm fishing, the ability and experience of my clients, water clarity, and most importantly what the fish are actually in the mood to bite. The same can be said for all the places I fish. If you limit yourself to one or two techniques, on those tough days you're going to go home with an empty stringer rather than with a limit like I do.

hmmmm, interesting well I do it all to, my dad plunks while I join the corner hole gang and fish from there down past the salmon hatchery carrying 2 rods, one witha corky and the other with a jig drift fishing the slots and floating the holes. But I determine where I fish by the time of the year, early season I fish higher in the holes then late march and april I fish the slots and tailouts and I normally do pretty good, limits for the most part or atleast decent amount of hook ups and releasing dark fish. In your video I saw you were fishing the red gate hole, do you do good there early in the season like around february and march and on what?
We only do good in there in april but there is like never anyone ever there. you can PM me if you want.

I'll fish up top, and down below. The trick is to cover water until you find 'em. I know their usual haunts in the river, of course they're going to stack up at the top, but there are miles or river that will have fish in it down below. When you move around and find that one spot that the fish decided to stack up in and pull out 10 fish with nobody around, it makes the day that much better. With experience, you'll know how long it takes to fully fish out a slot and know that they're not going to play and move on. There will always be the combat holes to fall back on, because we know there are fish there. But isn't it more fun to search and destroy rather than stand there are throw over and over? A fish that is moving through, all by his lonesome is ten times more likely to be aggressive than you're stacked up over pressured fish that watches nightmare jigs fly by all day long.

yeah last april there was this little slot by the salmon hatchery that is not there during low water but there were atleast 6 fish in there including 2 over 14lbs that if you were not careful you would basically walk on them as the trail is right there. In those tiny pockets I love fishing with a bead whether it is salmon or steelhead they love those beads get down quicker plus stays in the strike zone better. Oh and watching them go up the rapids and tail outs are pretty cool. I think I am going to toss more hot shots this year, 2 kids did pretty well with cop car ones on a rather slow day.
Also I do not think they really care what is being thrown in front of them in the corner hole, I did good last year and all I used were nightmare aero jigs. So I assume you fish outr in the fields and below the salmon hatchery I take it Nate.
