King County's Beaver Lake to receive
3,000 large hatchery rainbow trout
OLYMPIA - Anglers will soon have an opportunity to catch lunker trout in Beaver Lake near Issaquah, thanks to the release of about 3,000 hatchery rainbows weighing between 3 to 5 pounds each.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is scheduled to release the fish during the week of Nov. 12. The trout were part of an educational display at WDFW’s Issaquah Hatchery.
Beaver Lake is best fished by small boat, although anglers also can be successful fishing from shore, said Chad Jackson, inland fish biologist for WDFW.
The lake's access site is most easily reached by way of East Beaver Lake Drive Southeast, off Southeast 24th Street in the city of Sammamish. Parking for vehicles and boat trailers is limited, and a valid WDFW vehicle access permit must be easily visible in or on vehicles parked at the access site. See http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/vup/ for more information about vehicle access permits.
Beaver Lake is one of several westside lowland lakes open to fishing year-round. Internal combustion boat engines are prohibited on the lake. All anglers 15 years of age and older are required to have a valid fishing license. The daily bag limit is five fish, and bait anglers must keep the first five trout they catch.
Anglers are advised to check the sport fishing rules pamphlet, which is available on WDFW’s website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/regs/fishregs.htm.

Curious, does this overrule the original pamphlet.
" The daily bag limit is five fish, and bait anglers must keep the first five trout they catch. "
I use powereggs, but i normally dont keep the fish, if i can safely release them.

If your using bait, and even if your catching and releasing them, you have to stop fishing after you catch 5 fish..

That's the standard rule. If you fish for anything defined as bait (anything sented is bait as well), then you have to stop fishing after you reel in 5 regardless if you keep any of them.FishingFool wrote:Curious, does this overrule the original pamphlet.

In the spring, after the opener, I saw plenty of people who caught and released more than 5 fish. I reminded a few about the rule too (although a few completely ignored me).

RE:Beaver Lake November Rainbow planting
Sam what do you usually troll with
RE:Beaver Lake November Rainbow planting
Flatfish. Red in the F4 color with a single siwash hook. Those small trebles are garbage they come with, buy a good set of replacement siwash's and you'll be set.
Spoons work well for me too. Canadian Wonder, dick nites, needlefish, etc. But I can't tip those with worms cause it ruins the action but with a flatfish, it doesn't effect the action at all..

Pretty soon when the temps dip into the high 30's to low 40's the rowing sure warms you up though. I'll be out there on my pontoon having fun too,I'll be looking for the big ones to tow me around. :thumleft:

Yes, i understand that rule. But i have no intentions of keeping the fish, unless i have to. So, are we forced to keep the fish at this lake. Or, will the state regulation overrule this memo.Mikey wrote:That's the standard rule. You don't have to keep your first 5 fish. If your using bait, caught fish count towards your limit of 5 no matter released or kept...It's because of the high mortality rates involved with bait fishing, often times because the fish swallows the hook.
Good to see that you have some good catch and release morals...I'd suggest releasing freshly planted fish for a while cause their meat isn't too good straight out of the hatchery. Best off waiting for a few weeks until the fish establish natural eating habits instead of formula pellets.
