can't beat the bogies run man crazy good in december but cascade is an easy place to catch fish too if you are there early so is the skookumchuck but that does not start getting good until PS rivers start to close and stays good through april lots of fish there too.

Ah, well most rivers that have fish have alot of people right? Haha thats why i like the dungy, though it was kinda crowded today. More people from out of town lately. I like them more than most of the locals though..Most are snaggers. Oh yeah the bogy is great, pretty nice crowd most of the time too.

Haha the locals are the snaggers. I really don't mind people from other areas cause they normally never snag fish. Snagging has ben bad this year though, seen a few people that are always out using weighted trebels like on the quil.

ha just like the ol tahuya. The locals complain about the fishing pressure while theyre the ones snagging all the fish and keeping fish way past their limit bullying people and chasing them off with their dogs. Its the out of towners that pay for gas and gear, and spend the time trying to find a good hole that are the polite ones that arent snagging.

I remeber on the dungy a few years ago when the river had split by the hatchery right above that there was a log jam that people would be on trying to snag fish out of with huge trebles.

does anyone know if i would be allowed to sleep in my truck by the hatchery or is there a nearby turn out on the river that would be safe? (from police and towing i am not worried about the meth heads that frequient every back road in the state)

Theres a turn out right before taylor cuttoff and a few on taylor cuttoff along the river that you could probably park and sleep as long as its not on anyones property. Not sure though. Ah today was another good day. Landed 7 kept 2 bright hens. Also Released a 16lb native buck and lost one huge fish after a tug of war battle that had to be atleast 20lbs. It streched across half the hole and i couldn't even turn its head out of the rapids. Also hooked a steelhead that came jumping out of the water 10ft in the air, got a good look at it before it spit the hook. Lot of fun today, eggs was what seemed to work best all day. Went through ALOT of tackle though. Oh and no pictures, phone died on the river.

Sounds good I can't wait to get to the river, I have some floats for if the river feels like eating too much tackle. Hopefully the fish want jigs and corky this weekend, since I am arriving eggless

Its a little fast to use floats. Corkie and yarn work well, but i can bring an extra bag of eggs tomorrow if you want some. We have like 15-25 ziplock bags full of eggs. Also in a few spots jigs wouldn't work too well.

What a slow day..Met up with "drysuperfly52" at the hatchery early this morning. Nice meeting ya! if only it wasn't such a slow day. Anyway Landed 3 lost 1. Saw a few other fish caught, but not many. Though second cast my grandpa landed a nice buck. All fish were released. I know the fish is out of the water, but it was cold and my grandpa couldn't really get close to the river, very easily(Also couldn't walk into the water) so i had him lift it up got a quick picture and let the fish go. Swam away fine. Gonna take a break from fishing the river, might go back out maybe next tuesday.

thanks Blake for showing me some of the holes. it was pretty darn cold out and it didnt help they didnt open the gate to the hactery until about 30 minutes afterday light. Thanks for the eggs, they caught me a spawned out coho on the wallace yesterday.

oh no problem, always glad to help out, and the hatchery spots can be confusing to find. It was! Cold, and slow fishing. Atleast the eggs worked for something, haha i try tyo say i'm somewhat decent at curing eggs...

I didn't. I try to avoid it, cause i get to the river early in the morning and the people down there early mornings....I personally wouldn't go down there without a handgun or only when its crowded with other fishermen. So the river raised with some snow melt so i'll be checking out the river soon to see if more fish are in. I'll be fishing the river for salmon about another week or so, maybe up to thanksgiving then i'll start targeting steelhead on the river. I expect a decent run of steelhead this year on the dungy.

Of course there is. We park on the other side of that hole and walk down from the dike, so we are away from the bridge. First time i saw a homeless guy under there i took off and never went to the bridge side again didn't want to risk it. I personally think railroad bridge park is worse though.
