chum salmon

i am new at fishing for chums i just want to catch and release them what is the most effective way to catch these salmon i have plunked before for them with a purple spin and glow and shrimp but it took me 3 hours to get one fish someone please point me in the right path for these fiesty fighters

Corkie and yarn. Make sure you have a heavy rod too. I run 30 lb braided main and 15 lb leader.

Ah man I love those feisty chum. I've already caught a few this year on jigs. pink, white, and green jigs with some flash. jig it like the coho twitch. the skok they can't resist eggs. you'll catch em til your arms fall off! minter creek gets a huge return but its combat fishing. hoodsport gets a big return also!

My friend float fishes for them with purple or pink jigs! he catches about 3 or 4 a day on the skykomish river but he doesnt usually start till november!
