Lake Depths

Does anyone know where you can get info on the depth of lakes throughout the state? Specifically King County.

You can on this website go to the Topo section it is on most of the lakes at least the more popular lakes

Click on the blue features button at the top of the page then select topographic maps then select your lake.

For all the larger bodies of water in Washington (Banks, Potholes, etc) go to this link: http://www.nwmaps.com/fish_maps.html You can buy these underwater maps. Not only do they show accurate depths, drop offs, gravel pits, weeds, etc, but they also show suggested hot spots where you might catch fish. Plus, they are pretty darned cheap!

You might look for a copy of Lakes of Washington, Volume 1 Western Washington (1961) by Ernest E. Wolcott. Its also known as Water Supply Bulletin #14 put out by the former Department of Conservation, Division of Water Resources. It even includes the mountain lakes. You'll find Spirit Lake in it, but not Coldwater... And some of the lakes have changed quite a bit in the last 45 years.

I use Topozone.com or TerraServer.com. If the depths are not given for a specific lake check out the surrounding area to get an idea of how the slopes and changes in elevation are. You can get a good pretty good picture of how the lake bottom looks by doing this.

I agree with beerman, the fishing maps are great and they are waterproof too! I have all published maps for Eastern WA Lakes and highly recommend them.
