Salmon in upper part of the rivers

Hey all, im new here. I have been fishing for salmon for a couple years now but have only been doing so in the tide water so to speak. Im just wondering what kind of gear a guy would use to get these critters in the upper part of the river system, like above the tide water?

Any info would be great.

Spoons, eggs (under a float or drifted), Dick Nites (drifted), corky & yarn (drifted).

What about anchoring up and pulling a Kwikfish or something? Would that be affective?

That wouldn't be to cool on the Puyallup. Maybe you should tell us what rivers you are interested in.

I've fished the Satsop which is a tributary to the Chehalis, and caught coho there on purple hoochie jigs twiched.

skookumchuck is fun, those fish are killer for orange corkies with orange yarn and any type of scent or even twitching 1/4oz-1/2oz marabou jigs works wonders too. Cheahalis fish seem to like spinners with a hoochie tail on them as well, do you have a boat or you on the bank?

my family has land on the satsop. we do well on small mepps spinners in gold, silver and copper.

Iuld work around the mouth of the satsop backtrolling plugs, spoons and herring as well as casting spinners and plunking bait.

Thanks for the help. After the fishing in the Grays Harbor slows down thats where ill be headed
