I've seen in the vicinity of 50 new accounts in one day. Once in awhile 30 by the time I get up in the morning, or get back home from the lake. Then checking every few minutes while I'm watching tv, all day long, or when I get back in the house. This morning it took me over an hour just to read all the new posts on WaLakes, and 2 other websites, then add to that researching new members, then if those new members had to be approved, then that is at least 2 mouse clicks per account. Then at least 2 mouse clicks, waiting for pages to open, pages to 'go back', browsers to start up, more pages to open, at least 2 for each new account to check. Takes a lot of my time each day. I'd rather be watching the Little League World Series, which happens to be what I'm doing now. :-)

Yup, quicker now to ban them. And the ones that get thru don't usualy last very long.

On one spammer I noticed they had signed up in April, they did their spam post in July. I'm thinking that someone signs up, then gives a list of sites to another spammer, and that might be why it took so long. Otherwise why wait? If I was a spammer, I'd sign up and post right away, as some do, but many don't. The web site that Aaron posted in the Mod's forum gives a list and that list shows MANY posts/websites/spams by 'that' spammer for a day, 1,000 or more, and more for more days, so I think they have a 'boss' that gives them work/sites to spam.

Let's keep track of how many get through the cracks each day starting tomorrow... since they're now turned away at the signup page instead of being "flagged" I'd like to know just how many make it through.

I'll be on vacation tomorrow through Sunday but I'll check in now and again when I have service... I'm going back to the boat-in only sites on Roosevelt, this time without the kids! This will be my first vacation without work or kids in a decade.

I didn't do the 'list' thing today and yesterday, you know which list, just don't say which list so the spammers don't get any ideas. lol So I have no idea how many make it to making a post. Seems LOTS of spam posts were made yesterday and today. Other mods and admin took care of those as I slept in today. But then, I'd otherwise be on the lake until 8 or 9 or so each day anyway. [laugh] Looking at the Mod's Log earlier today I saw that there were LOOOOOOTS of spam posts yesterday and today.

True.. but those were made by users that were flagged and not banned fast enough.. we won't be seeing any of those anymore. Just make a tally of how many of them get banned, not how many post.

Just checked 3 at random just going by their user id from 'that list'. ALL 3 were spammers, one on the list of the web site you posted a link to in the thread in the Mod's forum showed 1,000 'hits' against him, he was from the U.S. but claimed to be from Ireland in his profile. And he was the most recent on 'that list' here on Moparts. 1 was from from russia and 1 from ukrain.

Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
