Pigskin Pick-em Week 6

Post by raffensg64 » Tue Oct 09, 2007 9:21 pm

Gents, you all were too kind in handing me a victory in Week 5. And we all learned that home field advantage and records don't mean diddly in the NFL. The Bears decisively beat the Packers, the Chargers went postal on the Broncos at their house at Mile High, and my Steelers handed the Hawks their first shutout since 2000. Who'd have thunk all that? And what the hell was that madness we witnessed on Monday Night? I'm still hurting for those poor Buffalo Bills. Anyways....here's week 6.

Saints @ Seahawks (my upset pick, Brees and Bush and boys stun a team reeling from a shutout)
Pats @ Cowboys (I wish both would lose, but am picking the Pats on the road. Brady vs. Romo? That's a no brainer!)
Titans @ Bucs (Bucs slow Vince enough to achieve a victory)
Panthers @ Cardinals (Cardinals and former Steeler staff take this one...watch out, Seattle, the Cards are for real)
Texans @ Jags (Jags win on pure defense)
Raiders @ Chargers (Chargers by 21)
Redskins @ Packers (Favre's youngsters upset about letting down the old man....Pack by 10)

MNF: Giants 24, Falcons 14. Total 38.

It's hard to pick the raiders anyways. They've been the doormats of the AFC for the last few years.

The Oakland Raiders have captured three World Championships of professional football with victories in Super Bowls XI, XV and XVIII. Each Super Bowl was marked by dominating performances in all three phases of the game—offense, defense and special teams.

They are now 2-2-0 which gives them the lead in the AFC West Doormats NO MORE

The Seahawks have been to/won how many Superbowls?

They do have a better record right now than the Raiders 3-2-0 and they are number two in the NFC West...

This is all in fun so do not get too, excited. I am actually a Cowboys fan 5-0-0...getting another ring this year!!!

I am going to watch the SAINTS this Sunday with my boy. Who is a huge Raiders fan. We are pretty excited to see any NFL team play!!

I'm talking about after the went to the superbowl. It's been several dismal years since then for the raider crew. What a turnaround though. They were up top among the AFC's best then they've been bad since then. Hopefully they can turn it around...I'd rather see them beating up LT and his chargers then the Raiders losing..

Just because they are 2-2-0 dosen't take them out of the dorrmat catagory yet we will see later this year.Have fun on Sunday at the game with your son. Qwest Field is a great place to watch a game at.I was looking forward to Saints,Seahawks game this year until the Saints did a belly flop. Can they pull it together? We will see.

Wow I like the Chargers/Raiders debate. Here's my input.

Raiders lost their last SuperBowl bid because Gruden taught Tampa Bay their playbook. The Bucs totally knew what the Raiders were going to do every down.

After that the Raiders were sort of an old folks home for players in their golden years, that's why the doormat status. They are turning that around.

Chargers are on the backside of their peak heading to the basement for a while. They can't sustain what they had without Marty Schottenheimer whom they foolishly fired.

Football is coaching, not players! L.T. will not carry the Chargers anymore than Reggie Bush will carry the Saints. Better players have tried Randall Cunningham and Barry Sanders are cases in point. Coaches win Championships! That's why the Seahawks have had such a great run, especially after dumping Holmgren's other duties and having him coach fulltime. Who recently retoolede the Cowboys and passed off a good product for their new coach?

Brady is a mediocre QB at best working with a supreme coach. How many back-up quarterbacks have won SuperBowl MVP because of great coaching. Kurt Warner? Doug Williams? et al.

I'll take a stab at it

Saints @ Seahawks--Seahawks (sorry Saints, last year was a miracle)
Pats @ Cowboys--Cowboys (I'm going to get this one wrong)
Titans @ Bucs--Titans
Panthers @ Cardinals--Cardinals
Texans @ Jags--Texans (I hope, I hate the Jags)
Raiders @ Chargers--Chargers
Redskins @ Packers--PACKERS!

MNF: Giants 27, Falcons 10. Total 37.
