I figured they must have gone to automatic approvals for some reason.... gotta set up a new user group that has no "privileges" until they are approved by an the admin or his disciples and placed into the active users group so that they can post something useful. Automatically putting the new users in there gives you a "Drunk Tank" to filter out all the spammers. Im sure you guys knew that already though

Yeah, I caught him in the act last night & got him banned - only after he posted about 100 posts across the board and was still posting, not sure if I got it all cleaned up or not. I just happened to be trying out my wife's new Ipad, so it was also my 1st go with one of those things too - slowed me down a bit.

You will need to put a ban in place that blockes the entire HOST , not just the individual IP addresses. Also... use the * wild card to include unknowns. ec... (*.*.perv.com) for host blocking.

As harsh as it seems I would consider blocking countries to. .RU is notorius for starts, a few from the African continent and of course China. Hummm middle east too. It's been going on with email a lot longer than web forums and I do concur with Rich.

Yup, used to do that too. Works well. Accidently blocked some US Military Bases in Afganistan with one of my bans. Dude could access from his appt off post but not from on post. oops.

Wow sounds like the same problem Facebook has. Isnt this site linked to FB? If so that could be where these idiots come from. I know My sis in New York had some idiot send her very gross and nasty stuff. Youd think by now the Feds would get a grip on this stuff. Its big bucks so they let it slide.

Our Facebook page doesn't get near the traffic this site gets. We're just living with what happens when you get over three million visits a year. The spammers no doubt target sites that have heavy traffic. Each of these spammers has to actually register manually. And we manually get to delete them. I'm trying to find a forum setting to ban entire countries as most of these are coming from Ukraine.
