KOKANEE POWER WASHINTON

Post by Toni » Tue Nov 22, 2011 10:00 pm

If anyone has noticed my fishing reports this year I love to fish for Kokanee. In fact it is hard for me to fish for anything else, except salmon. I consider myself a Kokanee addict, a koke head, for short.
Am I the only one?

I found a club that started in California to help when their state dropped the funding for raising and stocking kokanee in their waters. "Project Kokanee" was formed to provide the CDFG with the volunteer manpower and funds needed to keep these fisheries going. Most of the present-day Kokanee fisheries exist due to the efforts of this group.” http://www.kokaneepower.org/about.php Check it out.
It grew to Oregon and now it is coming to Washington. With the state funding for our fisheries we are all concerned about what will happen. Maybe we can get a jump-start on securing kokanee fishing?
“The club goals: Provide good clean family fun and promote the sport of kokanee fishing through derbies and inland fishing enhancement projects.”
Someone mentioned a book by Kent Cannon http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/vi ... 17&t=13945 he is involved with Kokanee Power Oregon.http://www.kokaneepoweroregon.com/Board_m.html

Kokanee Power Washington is looking for a start with members. Attached is a flyer from a man who is trying help organize what will be the non-profit Kokanee Power Washington.
