2011 Curlew Results in a "50"inch TIGER.....!!!!!
Well, it's about midnight here at Lake Curlew and now that the campfire has been put out and everyone has gone for some well deserved rest I thought I'd share the ground breaking results with you. This was a big day for Muskie fishing in Washington as we had our first official 50" Tiger Muskie. Now I know there have been others talked about to be 50+. But this is the first to be witnessed, logged, pictured, and safely returned by a Muskies Inc. Member in the state of Washington. And what a beautiful looking fish….!!!! I’ll get a picture posted here soon so you all can see what a magnificent looking catch this truly was.
As for the Tournament itself,
First place went to Dan Fuller (Chap 57) with two great looking fish with a combined 85.75 total inches(43.75 x 21 and 42 x 22). Dan worked hard all day and it paid off, Congratulation Dan.
Second Place went to Chris Geades (Chap 60) with his whopping 50" beauty. After a few nerve racking jumps, headshakes, and a bent net hoop, Chris could begin breathing again as his fish was in the net.
Third Place went Perry Peterson (Chap 57) with a very healthy looking 43.5 x 20 Tiger. I was on the boat when this one hooked up and I've never seen a Tiger fight so hard, line was ripping off the reel. Thanks goodness Perry had a good net man....LOL.
If all this action wasn't enough, we had two other friendly competitions going on as well. One was "Big Fish" of the Tournament that of course when to Mr. Chris Geades and his 50" monster, and the other was between Chap 57 and Chap 60 for the "Golden Bucket". Last year the Bucket stayed home in the Spokane area with Chap 60 and we all said that wouldn't happen again. Well I'm happy to report that Chap 57 made good on their promise as tomorrow the bucket will be heading across the pass with Chap 57 where it will stay until next year when it will be up for grabs again.
We had 10 anglers present and each and everyone to include myself had AWESOME time fishing, sharing stories around the campfire, and enjoying a wonderful weekend.
Lastly I’d like to thank Chap 60 for the wooden Muskies Trophies you presented to our winners. You are all a class act that we look forward to seeing again soon. Also a special thanks to Fisherman’s Cove Resort and Tiffany’s Resort for taking such good care of us while we were here and we are already making planes to do it all again next year.
So there you have gang, it’s now a little after 1am and I’m off to sleep. I can update you all more tomorrow if needed.
Enjoy

RE:2011 Curlew Results in a "50"inch TIGER.....!!!!!
Congrats to everyone!!! I am definitely jealous as I have not caught a tiger since oct. of 09. Congrats to chuck on breaking 50 inches. Norm you forgot to mention that chuck won the free replica mount from LAX for catching a 50+ inch tiger in this tourney. I will chalk it up to lack of sleep. Congrats again guys!!!
RE:2011 Curlew Results in a "50"inch TIGER.....!!!!!
:bounce: CONGRATS to Dan, Chris and Perry!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like everyone that went had a good time too. Lots of people thought Curlew would be where the first 50 incher would be caught and Chris was the lucky/good fisherman to do it. Wow. I'm sure there will be a bunch of fisherpeople that will be sorry they didn't go to Curlew this year. Hurry up and get some pictures posted someone.

What a Tournament! Congrats to all! How cool is it when BOTH father/son teams take home the top honors! Dan and his father/net man, Mike -- Chris and his father/net man, Chuck.
If memory serves me, this was Dan's first Tournament win. And of course we were all, everyone of us, filled with jubilation about Chris's mammoth 50 incher.
Looks like its a new, national, Tiger Muskie, Muskie Inc. record for Washington State.
Hurry up, Dan & Chris and post your photos!
In the meantime, I have a few from the Awards Ceremony and Perry's hi-flying, acrobatic 43.5 x 20.
And YES, Don Grove,(Chapter 60 Officer and Member) your wonderful wooden tiger award plaques are works of art and will remind the lucky anglers of their accomplishments on Curlew Lake.
Thanks, also to President Norm Dillon for letting 2 handicapped anglers (KUP & Bad Esox) hitch a ride in his boat and his new SUV for the long ride to Curlew and back. It was our first outing of the year due to broken bones and physical limitations and our attendance would not have been possible without Norm. Thanks, Norm! - What a joy to be back on the water.

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:

I'll be calling Rick Lax tomorrow to work out the details. I didn't forget, just wanted to make sure this wasn't just for our OPEN Tournament. We talked about both so I just want to make sure we are correct.Lucius wrote:Congrats to everyone!!! I am definitely jealous as I have not caught a tiger since oct. of 09. I'm going to call you tomorrow since you were the one that set this up last year.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for a wonderful tournament and a great weekend to all!:) I got home and absolutely crashed from exhaustion this evening... I just woke-up now to see this post. Yes, the fishing was fantastic with, once again, many large fish being seen and this time even caught!...LOL!
The fishing was great, but what really brought everything together was the people. It was an great to sit around the camp-fire with you all and share all those exciting moments over, and over, again... Thanks for that...
Chris, congrats on that awesome 50X25 Tiger... probably at least 40lbs! Fat and fabulous she was! Beautiful fish my friend. :thumright Chris, after fishing with you, and your Dad, for several years now I know how much this means to you and him... great-job! Maybe you can ask for a new net for your birthday... she pretty much destroyed your old one!
Next stop is Merwin in October everyone...
Until then my friends...
