Sounds excellent. I noticed the donation section was gone.Has there been any more talk about the cost? All you and Arron talked about sounds great and I can't wait til' it all takes place. Are you guys still thinking about doing a site for Oregon and Idaho?

Personally, it's hard to recommend a fee structure without knowing how many people would actually become "premium" members (it seems like most regulars plan to). It all depends on if Mike and Aaron feel they're making enough profit for all the work they put into the site. I'd definitely leave a window open for second year adjustment.

I think you guys may have misunderstood my intent with the not-for-profit suggestion. I wasn't questioning your use of funds; I was thinking in terms taxation, liability, etc...

Either way, I greatly appreciate all of the hard work you guys put into this site and I look forward to supporting it with my membership when it becomes available.

Aaron,

Concerning the expanded coverage to include Oregon and Idaho: You said that we would need to build an historic base before actually building sister sites. Could that be done by adding a Forum Page to what we have now and a "None of the Above" catagory in the reports section? Just a thought.

Have the domains for the websites been secured, aka OregonLakes.com and IdahoLakes.com?

As you were saying about other wannabe sites out there, there is one for Oregon that I have messed with a couple times, but it is more complicated for the user than what you have done here. It could be simplified like this one, but it would still be lacking. Our site is built on our people and I gotta admit, we got a great bunch here. That's really what makes this a super site to belong to.

Would it be possible to have an ignore feature?

What I'm thinking is something where you could put in a userid you want to ignore, and his/her posts don't show up when you are viewing a thread. Could come in handy :-"

I'd like to see an "Out of state" lakes on the forum, so say if one was to go to a lake in Oregon for the weekend, they could pose the question about the lake in the right forum.

I love this site and I am grateful for all the knowledge and friends I have gotten from it! The way it is now is awesome so anything more you put into it would be a bonus. I would have no problems paying a fee. I think the most I saw was $150 for a lifetime membership and I would pay that. The friends alone that you gain by using this site are priceless not to mention the vast amounts of fishing knowledge. Thanks Mike and Aaron for all your hard work and I will be looking foward to the new additions!!!

I can't wait for the premium membership where we pay a fee. This site will come alive, and it already is doing so well...I've handed out most of your cards to other fishermen/woman that have no idea WashingtonLakes.com existed...this "spreading the love" or spreading the word, is really great and the new site upgrade should be fun to be apart of...

if there was to be a premium membership where we were to pay a fee. what would the added bonuses be and how much would the monthly fee be?

I'll tell you what, Aaron and I are still working on all the pieces to make sure everything works together. We'll post more detailed infrmation as we get closer (projecting Opening Day for the new website and premium membership).

Everything you have access to now for free will still be available for free.

The memberships will be very reasonable - $17.99/yr or $29.99 for two years. Hopefully readers will see enough extra features that they think it is worth that.

I can say there are some cool things Aaron has coded! And, the guy has been putting in huge hours doing it, which is a big reason why we've decided to charge for it. The site's growth means that he and I spend a lot of time working on upgrades and updates. My off days are usually spent doing several hours of updates while Aaron has been spending hours after work each day with the upgrades.

It's cutting into my fishing time! :-({|=

thanks for all the hard work guys! $18 for a year is rather inexpensive. i think everybody will buy into it. if some of the younger fisherpeople cant afford it when it rolls out, let me know, i can cover a few memberships for those less fortunate. again, thanks for all the extra hours put in for this site.

In the current site when you look at fishing reports you have to load the lake/river photos everytime you change the page. I've moved the photos and maps to a separate page so the reports can load faster. It laso has a Google map that shows the location of the lake/river. Guests and Basic members will see the Google map with a red icon showing the location. Premium Members will the same map but theirs will include brown icons showing all of the public boat launches.
