Chain Lake Status

Post by dea » Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:19 pm

I fished Chain Lake in Sno Ho county for a couple of hours this week. I fished in the early afternoon. I hit the north end of the lake immediately since the wind was blowing against that side. First cast, I caught a small bass right off the lily pads. After a bit of hitting that end of the lake with no bites, I started trolling across the lake. I then ended up at the south end of the lake where things were calm and I could see the occasional trout jumping. I saw one fairly big on jump completely out of the water. No bites other than the first small bass at the north end of the lake. This lake feels like a remote lake.

I fished for bass there years ago, along with Wagner lake. I have a new boat and trailer for
fishing the non combustible motor lakes. What shape is the boat launch in?
Can you get a smaller trailer in there? Cool lake!
Cast first, worry later.

It's usable. I got my trailer in there, but I had to play tricks. I did my best to turn my rig around, then got out and rotated the trailer by hand into position. I then backed up and Bob's your uncle. Parking is at upper lot area, and the same trick was played out when I came back in.

I have a Meyers Laker 14' Aluminum. It is only 125lbs. The trailer is also the smallest and easy to move as well. Of course, this was all planned since I did not want to hassle with crowded boat launches etc. So, between my two boys and myself - we can lift the boat off the trailer and carry it to the water if we wish.
