RE:Lamiglas Rods
Yea Okuma's are crap. I worked at a sporting goods store and I can't tell you how many Okuma rods we got back that were broken.
Ugly sticks lose a lot of sensitivity in my opinion, but still not a bad rod nonetheless. I know what you mean jake dogfish about the other board. Those guys are all Loomis/Shimano guys there....Tough to justify $400-$500 rods, and most of those guys got 10 different setups...
I got atleast a dozen setups, none getting anywhere near even $250....

RE:Lamiglas Rods
You mean there is actually a group of guys who.... nevermind. They are probably my neighbors.
My ugly may cost me a few fish here or there and I accept that. I don't see myself in any real serious tournaments in the near future. I'm in it for the day of "relaxation" or should I distraction. I understand, sort of, the guys who compete at a high level needing the finest gear possible.

The latter part is what it always boils down to. I should just consider myself lucky she lets me fish as often as she does...cavdad45 wrote:Get the best you can afford or the best your wife will let you afford.
I went and looked at my rod last night and it is an Ugly Stick Lite. So that probably explains why the weight doesn't bug me much and it seems sensitive enough to get the job done right.

If I didn't check with her, I would have all the cool stuff every bassman wants, but find myself living under a box in my jonboat. Yeah, I would probably be sleeping on my boat. That might not be too bad.cavdad45 wrote:If I didn't check with her, I would have all the cool stuff every bassman wants, but find myself living under a box in my jonboat. RE:Lamiglas Rods
LOL same here guys.
Uglies seem to work fine for lakes and even silvers or Pinks off the beach. Its when you need some power behind it the bigger rods have little sensitivity...
