Power Bait Lures?

As mentinoed before, I'm new to bass fishing. I went to the Sportsmans Warehouse and stocked up on various Power Bait lures for bass fishing. I never see anyone talk about these, are they worth the money? I haven't had any luck yet...

The spinners with the little scent vents you can jam powerbait into? Basss wont take powerbait I dont think, so your best bet is to use them for trout. I hear they aren't worth it, any other spinner tipped with a worm will produce more fish I guess..

Man, I almost don't want to say anything because you said that you "stocked up on them". Those will do alright for trout. I could tell you 101 better lures to try for bass. Your best bet at catching a bass on those lures would be to catch a trout and hope a big bass inhales that trout.
If your interested in catching bass and not trout return them and get something else. I could be wrong. Show a pick or describe what they are. If they are what I'm thinking I agree with Kafelafish, bass won't (don't) eat powerbait and your best bet is to use them for trout.

I guess I didn't use the right terminology. I can see how you thought I was using the soft Power Bait. here is a link to the types of items I bought

Pretty much minnows and other combinations. You buy them in a bag, has Power Bait on it, but it is not the soft trout bait like I may have lead it on to be.

What are you thoughts?

well' I guess i"ll can give you my two cents on this subject. Yes they will work wonders, if you are in the right condition at the right time and have CONFIDANCE in using them.Asking the question you did is hard to answer. I would need to know what type of bass you are targeting, what type of water you're fishing and most important how you are fishing them. If you want to get into bass fishing, let me make a few recommendations on what to spend your money on. Fist, a spinerbait second, a crank bait and third a bag of Senko's. After you can fish these lures with confidance and are seeing results, then experiment and have fun. Hope this helped and maybe I'll see ya on the water

How big are those Powerbait minnows? How much do they weigh? If they are on the smaller side, they would work okay for crappie. The exposed hook usually means it won't get much action in my tackle box because so many bass waters are thick with vegetation. However I could see some interesting saltwater applications for your minnow jigs.

As far as Powerbait lures go, the only ones I use are PowerWorms, PowerCraws, and PowerTubes for bass. Have not tried too many of their other offerings.

But before you think you might have wasted your $$$, tie them on and see what they do. You may be on the pinnacle of the latest, greatest bass catcher out there. Afterall, those type of lures have been around for decades produced by other manufacturers. There's got to be a reason. Give it a go, I remember when tube jigs were thought to be a passing fad, same with those small plastic worms that 90% of us swear by.

Thank you guys. I'm not sure about the actual weight and size off hand, but I'll take a look tonight. I haven't been successful with them yet. There is another type from Power Bait that is set up weedless when you buy it. Was fishing Lacamas with them and didn't get snagged once. Also didn't get a bite.

Will keep trying and will definetely run out and get the spinerbait, crank bait and some Senko's. Thank you both for your advice. This bass fishing is a lot different then the trout (thrown your pole in the water and grab a beer) fishing I'm used to!

mmccarthy, be careful out there. Once the bass fishing bug hits you hard, it's all over!!! Never again will you be content to toss out bait and wait. You will throw away that kind of patience, as you look for a way to make Ol' Bucketmouth bite.

Bass fishing bug is nothing compared to the salmon bug...You'll be buying so much more stuff and it's alll a much more expensive sport out on the saltwater unfortunately...

Ahhh yes. I know what your talking about now. Those will do alright for bass. I would expect them to do better for panfish though. That is one of those lure that can work for just about any fish as long as they are in the area. I don't think you'll catch monster fish on them but you'll get bit. I would try drop shotting those and maybe add them as a trailer on a spinner or jig.

I can't even think about salmon fishing. The way bass fishing has got me I can't afford other hobbies, a round of golf, a movie ticket, a pizza, a big gulp, or.....
