RE:Skykomish Virgin
Wow! Smallest being 14lbs! Must have been a good day. They're typically 7 to 8 lbs, at least in winter. Maybe I need to go out again!
RE:Skykomish Virgin
i have been finding that the summer run natives are really large this year. 18.65 being the largest and possibly a 20lbs that was taken from the same hole on the 20th

RE:Skykomish Virgin
I went to reiter yesterday, and I have one word to describe it....BUSY. I was surprised that on a Friday morning, it was so jam packed. every 5 minutes my line is being caught up by someone else...very very annoying.
Can someone help me find a better spot along the sky for some action, or anyone interested in taking out a newbie...or in other words, a sky virgin? I am in desperate need of some help

Try the mouth of the wallace, the mouth holds fish and then right behind you is the sky and with a short walk up it theres a nice section you can fish. Or you can try somewhere off the side of the Ben howard road . Theres a few nice spots to try.
While you were up there did you see any fish pulled in?
My rod and reel, they comfort me.

Matt, do you fish often that far downstream of the hatcheries? I started fishing steelhead last winter and people told me not to waste my time downriver??? Sure is a lot more elbow room the farther down you go.Matt wrote: Down in Monroe I had 1 takedown on the float setup but it didn't stick, sigh.

Where is the parking area for the HWY 2 side of the Skykomish (accross from Rieter Ponds), is it off of Fir Rd, or is it farther down?

Yeah I do fish down low quite often. There are tons of boats that fish the area too, but a lot of the bank is inaccessible. These fish are moving into the system every single day right now and they will be scattered from the Snohomish to the upper sections near the hatcheries. They do tend to stack up near the hatcheries though which is why most people fish up there, more of a sure thing. Also, I have been targeting bigger water with hopes of finding some kings. No luck so far though.Splitshot wrote:Matt, do you fish often that far downstream of the hatcheries? I started fishing steelhead last winter and people told me not to waste my time downriver??? Thanks Matt
There are a few spots between Monroe and the spot curado is talking about. I think I'll give them a try.
