Chain Lakes? (PO County)

Ok so its still in the regs, and I've asked this question before......is there still public access to this lake? Last time I tried to find a way in there was a big sign stating access had been closed....is there more than one road to get in there?

Im gonna go out today and drive some of the roads I saw on Google Earth long as they arent private roads. I saw a road heading into the north end and south ends of the lake that look like possible access roads......

I give up, I used Google Earth to identify all roads leading to this lake, I checked them all out and all had private access or private property signs on them,...... I've now deemed it completely private....

I did also find Lake of the Woods which is a nice little lake, but confirmed that it too is all private.

What kind of lake are you looking for? Small, little pressure, remote, bass or trout?
It is difficult to get away from the crowds until schools start up again. I know of some great lakes up north that don't get a great deal of pressure.

yeah just looking for small lakes close to home. I finally got a battery for my trolling motor so I plan to get out and hit more lakes now. I plan on this week hitting halfmoon, little lost lake, and trying to find if Wolf Lake still exists.

Call the PO Valley Sportsman Shop in Oldtown/Newport. Ask them where to go. Last weekened they said fishing was pretty slow all around the area.

Halfmoon is up by Browns Lake and is a very pretty lake. It doesn't get much pressure and the fish generally run around 8"-10". While up in that area, check out both North and South Skookum. If you have never been up there before, check out the videos on both lakes. North Skookum has some fairly good sized rainbows. All three lakes are great to go to and relax and get away from the crowds. Let me know how you do.

Well Im not going to be able to make it up there this week but hopefully soon. I've been up in that area before and have fished Browns Lake but only looked at Halfmoon as we drove by it on the way to Browns. I grew up in Metaline, WA so Im more familiar with those lakes. My grandfather used to runs the USk fish hatchery before they closed it down and then he went over to the colville hatchery. One time as a kid he took me with him over to Kings Lake and I got to watch him collect eggs.

So yeah, my goal is to go hit all of the Pend Oreille County lakes at least once before the end of the season...especially the ones that havent had reports on them for awhile like Leo, Carl's, etc or dont have any reports like Little Lost Lake and Ledking Lakes. I had gone to Carl's a couple years ago but I think it had winter killed...I hope to rig up a fish finder so I can see if there is actually anything there or not....not sure if they had actually stocked it recently or not, I had just looked at this years stock report but forgot what it had said about Carls......that is a fun drive to get to let me tell ya lol!

Petit Lake is a nice little lake that has some smaller cutthroat. The fish aren't big, but they are plentiful and the lake is serene with very little people. That is one of my "get away from the insanity" lakes. Starvation up out of Colville is another lake that is fun. After the first of June, it is catch & release and the crowds are gone.
I am finding that with the gas prices so high, fewer people are going up north like they used to.

I havent been to petit lake in years.....is there an easier way there than from LeClerc creek?

You can come in from Idaho, up from Priest River. That is actually the faster way to get there and the roads are better. Read the lake descripton in the Lake Index for directions:
