RE:Where have you had problems with breakins or vandalism
I had my truck broken into twice at Rotary Lake in Yakima. Luckily the truck was a real beater so I left it unlocked and my windows were left alone (at least in 06-07 there was a lot of broken glass in the greenway parkinglot).
RE:Where have you had problems with breakins or vandalism
This morning I saw where at least two cars must have been broken in to from the look of the glass in the lot at Myron Lake. had to have been with-in a few days. I've been lucky so far and I would not be very nice If I were to catch them at it.:rambo:

I have been hit at the Makah reservation in Neah Bay twice. So I NEVER STAY THERE OR SPEND ANY MONEY THERE !!! I stay in Sekiu now. Cost me a 128 quart cooler a pair of waders and six salmon once and a bunch of adult beverages the next time. Some of the guy's on northwest walleye have had stuff taken right out of thier boats on the south end of Banks lake at the Coulee city boat basin too. I guess the truth be told I've been pretty lucky over the years. Of course it could be the "If you can read this your in range" note I leave on the dash. As for Quincy we always carry there now and make sure to have nohing showing in the oldest rig we've got.

Notice a lot of talk about upper sections of rivers being sketchy, Stilly, Cascade, Sauk, upper Sky, etc. and I would have to fully agree. I always pack my .357 inside of my waders when hiking any areas out in the cut, both for wildlife AND people.silverking0 wrote: we always carry there now and make sure to have nohing showing in the oldest rig we've got.

My girlfriend and I spent the afternoon fishing Storm Lk. (just outside of Snohomish) yesterday. After a great fishing day we return to the boat launch and discover our window was broken out of the truck. They stole the stereo and a cell phone. Seriously who the bleep still steals stereos these days!! To my surprise they left our gps still plugged into the ac outlet. This is the first time I have ever had problems out here in the Snohomish area. There was another truck parked behind us and he too had his window broken out. Sucks!

I got broken into at the Park n Ride on Grady Way exit 2 on I 405 today. Well technically not broken into, they stole my catalytic converter. Apparently Toyotas converters have a piece of platinum that can be sold for 80 bucks, of course it costed me 340 bucks to get a new one. Noisy ride home.
While I'm on the subject, I got broken into at Reiter Hwy 2 side in January this year.

It might be tough times but I`ll bet the person or persons don`t care about how tough times are. Only thing they cared about was were and how to get there next hit. Stealing a converter is a tweeker move. I don`t think it was just a guy down on his luck trying to feed his family.urbanangler wrote:omg wow! Truly a tough sign of the times. I use to have a Palestinian coworker and he would always tell me back at his country if you got caught stealing, they'd cut your hand off.
I bet if they enforced that here, we would see a lot less stealing.

Samish Lake does surprize me I personally have never had a problem there, it would be nice if the county would put in a nice launch by the park or if the church camp would open their launch to the public even if you payed to launch there would be worth it. Shoecraft is pretty isolated spot but I have been lucky there also but I'm usually out when it's miserable. This past season Spencer in Mason County had a breakin poor gal was just out trying to enjoy a little trout fishing. I have actually had someone try and steal my trailer at Island Lake in Mason County but I was to close to the fence and trees, I now have my trailer pad locked and the lock is tight enough that you can't use bolt cutters to cut it off. I travel all over Western Washington and have been lucky not to have had any problems but I also try and hit the little known lakes and do my best to stay away from the larger cities. I used to fish alone but my lady doesn't like that, she reminds me that I'm not 50 anymore, so now for the most part I go with my brother on weekends which works out well for both of us he is a freelance outdoor photographer, it is always nice to have photos with my articles, there are occasions that I do have to go it alone but I try and make it a short trip and a short stay on the water or take frequent breaks to check things out. Its a shame that things are coming down to this and cutting law enforcement budgets at a rapid pace doesn't help, I don't know about any of you but I appreciate the jobs they do and when I see them I let them know.

RE:Where have you had problems with breakins or vandalism
I had a run in with a couple of thugs at the parking lot at Chambers Lake in Lacey in 2009. I pulled in and dropped my boat then moved up to park and saw a couple of guys with billy clubs lurking around the few cars that were parked there at the Chehalis Western walking trailhead there. I could tell that they were up to no good so I called 911. All the while that I waited for the police to show up, I stayed on the phone with a friend who was high tailing it to the location to back me up. The men just glared at me the whole time. I dared not get out of the truck and kept the doors locked.
When the police arrived about 10 minutes later, the officer had to just 'talk' to the men since they were not observed committing any crime yet and advised them to go someplace else and 'wait for their friend' as they claimed they were doing. While the cop talked to them, I trailered my boat not daring to leave my truck at that lot. I pulled up afterward and spoke to the cop who told me that he was certain that the men were up to trouble but that he could not do anything about it but warn them to not do anything illegal since there was no damage done yet and no witness to any harm yet.
Bad deal. That was on a Tuesday morning in March around 8 am and the parking lot was relatively empty with only a few cars and myself. I think the thugs work that lot when there is less likely to be traffic there. The folks who walk the trail are easy game as they are often gone for an hour or more at a time. A lookout and a prowler make easy work of the valuables in the vehicles parked there.

RE:Where have you had problems with breakins or vandalism
Here is some humorous advice on how to prevent break ins.
1. Drive a crappy old truck with lots of garbage in it and leave the windows down at the parking lot. (I used to do this with never a problem)
2. Drive a not so crappy truck and leave a few soiled diapers in the front seat and on the dash. (did this too but only because I had so many kids coming up in the world)
3. Drive any vehicle and put a big sticker on the windows inviting folks to get involved in a multi-level marketing business. (this one will scare anyone away)
Please feel free to add on to this list.

I havn't seen it myself but have heard of a sticker that says something to the effect of "Nothing is in this vehicle thats worth your life" something like that....kind of
catchy and gets to the point but I suppose it helps if the criminal can read

I was thinking of a sticker that read "This vehicle watched with a scope and 30.06 rifle".
