How to make your own lake maps

Post by Lou Smith » Mon Dec 30, 2013 6:43 pm

I thought there may be fishermen out there who might want to learn how to make a color depth contour map of their favorite fishing spot(s). First of all, you must have a Humminbird or Lowrance “combo” fishfinder with GPS and an SD card slot for recording the data. Some lakes/areas may never be mapped by LakeMaster etc., but you can record your own “track” data as you fish. And, you can send your maps to Mike or Aaron to post on the site for others to print.

I use a software program that converts your chip data into a map and it can put the contour lines on your chip to load back into your fishfinder. I am retired with too much time on my hands, and want to pass this on before I croak!

I have talked with Keith at Puyallup Sportsman’s Warehouse about putting on a seminar, but for now it is only talk. If you want to learn now, let me know - it is free!!
