Gotta Play That Radio

Post by T-Bone » Thu Jun 16, 2016 12:15 pm

The other day my bank fishing solitude was disrupted by a senior couple dragging a large cooler on wheels. Promptly after setup, on comes the radio. Neither are teenagers; just folks that have to have "White Noise" as a background to any activity. After having my line cast over twice and a near headache from their radio; I moved down the bank a good distance, but even with brush in-between, the dull hum of the radio persisted.

Any idea were the noise addiction comes from? Old work habit? Too much urban living?

If they are old, maybe they are hard of hearing???

But ya, I don't usually like to listen to the music that others like. When I use to have the radio going in my boat the volume would be quite low, sometimes I couldn't hear it good enough as the boat turned the station would get weaker, so I quit bringing the radio.

He has the volume so high because SHE doesn't like the screaming of the perch when they catch one. [scared]

I'd be more pissed about getting cast over. No reason for that, although I've seen people at W Medical do it on purpose to run others out of a spot. Not much an old grandpa and his grandson can do when 6 or 7 upstanding citizens move in on top of them and start casting over them.

That's what the 60 lb superbraid with topwater is for. Just keep collecting that gear... (ummm, not serious, no fights...)

One guy I was talking to years ago said he threw, or heard of someone who threw, a Spook at a water skier. [laugh]

WTF????
Build a man a fire and he's warm for the night. Light a man on fire and he's warm the rest of his life!

Yeah, as a teen on the Columbia we were fishing a dock and a skier came within 6 feet at full speed, with a mile of river (at Columbia Park) to ski in. I put a big bobber on and fired it within a few inches of the guys head. He came back yelling about how I nearly hit him. I told him if I wanted to hit him I would have. I then said "I now have a 2 oz lead on the same line. Your move." I would have used a Spook, but then you either lose the lure or have to unhook the creep. And there's that whole assualt charge thing to deal with... To be clear, I am not recommending this course of action...

As a kid when my father was alive I do remember him offering to cut a skier's head off with an oar when they were buzzing the boat. [thumbup]
He told the driver of the boat to get him closer he was just out of range.
