Northwest Fishing Reports

So I'm sitting here looking at my report i posted, and all i see are questions like " can i get the location" "where were you" "were you on the shore?" show some RESPECT, how about write me a message, and then ask me the location, Or do it like us REAL fishermen and go beat the brush, All you guys wonder why good fishing spots are flooded with people, because you dummies come on here and tell the world.

I dont post reports, I am selfish. But I am willing to share my knowledge on techniques and tactics on locating
and catching fish. You have to find your own fish.
I do give out more detailed info in the form of PMs instead of posting to the masses. More on a personal level.

And why did you feel it necessary to post a report? I know there a a ton of folks who browse this site looking to pick up a tip or two and who never return the favor. If you post a report, you should expect any and all questions regarding your techique, location, etc. If you don't feel like sharing at all, or just feel like sharing a few details that's fine, just use a little tact and be nice about it. You always have the option to post in the "secret lake" section if you really feel the need to flaunt your catch.

i do tell techniques and general areas but the exact holes i fish and what depths... COME ON thats the fun in fishing, doing the work putting in the time and finally hooking into a fish

And, might I add, the core of your complaint is exactly WHY this site exists. Years ago I found this website and offered to rewrite for Mike for the SOLE reason that I had a tough time find places to go fish. Sure, I can find the lake, I can read what works, what doesn't, but for the inexperienced fisherman that just isn't enough. Sometimes you just need a freebie. You need the EXACT location and technique to get you started. Not everyone knows what they are doing. I sure as heck didn't and I almost gave up on fishing because of it. This is also why we added the HotSpots. To take people to the exact place and let them try their hand at duplicating your success. Not once have I ever seen or heard of a fishing spot being "fished out" because of someones report being too detailed. Sure, people worry about it, but at the end of the day they're just being selfish.

I hear ya- I've spent thousands of hours, some very painful cold rainy days in to learn what I know and its hard
for me to give that up for free. Thats why I keep it to forum topics, trading fishing tips and Ideas, not giving up
the detailed outings and the fish I catch. I dont even tell my buddies where I fish. I leave all bragging rights at the
lake or river.

Geeezzzz...what's with the attitude! No worries, there are MANY people on here that are very protective of their information, and then there are people like me who are more free with it. Either way is fine, and it's no big deal. But when you come to a public forum and post information like a report...expect people to ask and inquire about the information you posted. It's only natural...and think of it as a complement. There are much better ways, to let others know which side of the tracks you stand on...without calling them names and having a derogatory demeanor.

well said. IMO, fishing spots are flooded because there are more anglers. and more fsihing web sites. and fishing monthly magazines. and newspaper reports. and so on. The days of truly secret locations are going away. I believe our role as stewards of the resource is to foster good angler behaviors toward the sport, including proper harvesting of fish. Posting fishing reports is supposed to be part of that big picture, but if it just upsets you, don't do it.

well said. IMO, fishing spots are flooded because there are more anglers. and more fsihing web sites. and fishing monthly magazines. and newspaper reports. and so on. Exactly...I can give a report for a Saturday with the precise details that have exact lures and general location but it doesn't mean that the fish will be there or biting on Sunday. It gives a person a place and lure to start with.
Personally, I don't wonder why "fishing spots are flooded with people" I know that there are more people fishing than spots available and most people want easy access.

Mike, there are also sporting goods stores that advertise updated reports on white boards at their stores.

This is what a public forum is for. Discussion. Why are you getting so offended by some questions? You did come here and post your information freely. You should expect questions from less experienced anglers, especially if you have success.

Some people also have very full and busy lives and simply cant spend ever waking second out fishing.

Im gone from home 11 hours a day due to work. Have 2 days a week to school so Im gone from 5am to 10pm those days. Club meetings, kids sports, homework (3 hours of lecture = 6-10 hours of homework) dont forget shopping and chores.
