Lake Webcams

Post by sellis_414 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 1:23 pm

I know locally if we want to see what area lakes are doing we have to go to various sites to see what the lake is up to for that moment... Would it be possible to have a page on WL that had links to webcams for various lakes? I was just thinking about it and thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks

Great idea Sellis.

I don't know of many lake web cams, but there are a couple that I like to use for lake Washington. A link to the WSDOT I-90 and 520 bridge cams would be nice and they also provide up the minute wind conditions for each bridge as well.

Lake Sammamish and Lake Washington also have lake buoys that provide daily water conditions, these would be nice to link to as well.

There is information regarding pool levels for many of the dams on the Columbia that could be linked to as well. For example:

http://www.nwd-wc.usace.army.mil/ftppub ... ly/gcl.txt

This one gives you pool level behind Grand Coulee Dam and also the current level of Banks Lake.

If possible I think it would be nice to have these links on the "info" page of the body of water for which it pertains.

never knew about them. When I saw the topic heading my first thought was "oh, no, someone wants me to put web cams all over the state"!

I'll ask Aaron to add it to our "list".
