Uncooperative is what I would call the pike in Cda right now. Hopefully the lower upcoming temps will get them biting again soon. I'm really looking forward to the fall bite that should be starting very soon. I added 3 more to my total on Sunday. That gets me to 99 on the year. It would sure be nice to double that in the next 3 months.

Not a big numbers day yesterday on Cda but I did get some nice fish. 5 pike on the day brought me over the century mark, finally. 104 is my total for the year so far, and I'm happy to say, every one of them has been released to fight again!!
Biggest fish was 38". The 1oz white spinner bait with a 1 3/4" chrome blade has been the top bait for me so far this year. I'm looking forward to the glide baits taking off real soon with the fall bite gearing up.

By the way, am I the only one doing any pike fishing these days???

First trip of the year in Idaho for me starts tomorrow. Son finished up his summer job and I have a break in the action at work. Had a nice trip to Sitka for some salmon(daughter was top dog on that trip) and found a few out at bouy 10 but looking forward to some quality fishing. Should be his 15th trip(started going at 5 years old) and pretty excited for some fall fishing. Get to break in a new Lund too so pretty excited about the trip. Will post pics if we can find a few. Good fishing! Bob

So i finally got out on a pike trip over the weekend to the NIPA tournament on Noxon Reservoir. It was a 2 day tourny. I have only seen the water once and my partner had never been there. Day one we had a pretty good day and found some good fish ending the day tied for 3rd place with a full bag of 4 fish with the biggest on that day of 9.3 lbs. I landed 6 that day and my partner got 3. Day 2 was a ruff day for us, but not for a fair number of the other teams. We got the 4 fish. but our big fish that day was only 6 lbs, and the other 3 were hammerhandles and we fell to 6th in the standings out of 14 boats that were there. The lead team that we were behind by only 1 pound on day 1, got a huge bag on day 2 to gap us by over 20 pounds in the end. They had 2 fish that weighted well over 10 lbs. and a couple more good ones to take the victory. Big fish day 1 was 11.5 lbs and on day 2 it was 15 lbs.
Still not a bad result for us on our first ever tournament there. I got 2 and my pard got 2 also, so that puts me at 96 on the year. 4 more to go to break into the triple digits!!! LOL I'm coming for you Mark for the best tally of the year.

I released 4 more pike yesterday bringing me to 108 for the year. Spoons were the ticket this trip. We did get one on a frog and one on a spinner bait. 8-10 fow and not too fast on the retrieve. We got two at 31" and two at 30". nice fat fish but you can see that some have been feeding longer than others. We had two 31" and one was exactly one pound heavier than the other. Maybe one had eaten breakfast and the other hadn't

Another 4 fish day on Saturday got me to 112 on the year. The 1 OZ white spinner bait was the best producer but the biggest fish of the day came on a 3/4 oz sliver minnow spoon. Water temps were right about 60 all day. Temps are getting close to ideal for the bigger fish to head in for the fall feed. Brandon got a nice 35"er at 11 1/2 pounds and I got two 7 pounders and two 8 pounders on the day. Not a bad day at all

Just inching along waiting for a big numbers day for fall. I added 3 more yesterday bringing me to 115 for the year. It was a pretty tough day for the first of October. Water temps went up a couple of degrees since last week so the big eaters are still holding off a little. Decent fish though. 29", 31", and a 32"er on the day with several others missed.

11 more pike on Saturday brings me to 126. The fall bite is going well and I caught these two beauties, a 10 1/2 pounder and a 12 1/2 pounder within about 15 minutes of each other. Both fish were successfully released. We got a total of 14 on the day and missed several others, but we had to fish several locations to find them.

Got out with Mark K. yesterday for a three hour trip. We did pretty good, hitting a window of good weather in the middle of all the storms coming through. We got a total of 7 in the boat and missed a few others I added 5 pike to my total bringing me to 131 on the year. Glide baits got all our fish. Water temps were 54 all day. Great action for such a short trip. Top two fish were 31" and a 34" 11 pound 12 ouncer. Mark had a nice one in the net, that managed to find a hole in the net that I didn't know existed. No measurement on it but it appeared to be in the 31" range before it's escape. Rest easy. The net has been repaired. That's one of the hazards to big sharp hooks.

Fishing in Minnesota this week. 116 pike up to 31 inches/7lbs, 10oz. Bringing my total to 125 for the year. I won't be a winner but real nice to be in the "century club".

Just a quick update. I have been catching fish, just not posting too much lately. I will update later in the year with totals and photos.I recently started writing a blog for an outdoors website. Only one entry posted so far but check it out and see what you think. Use this link and click on the Blog tab. http://www.get-bitoutdoors.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I hope this doesn't violate any rules of the NWFR website. If so, my apologies.

So I'm hoping to add to my pike total this saturday as I will be fishing lake CDA on the north end I have not fished it since this spring and could use a little help figuring out where to go, I plan to target the deeper weed lines in Blue creek and wolf lodge bays. But other then that I dont really have any ideas on where to go. Is Beauty bay worth tryingh? I see on the google map a couple other bays I know nothing about, never fished them or even seen them. One is Neachen bay the other one is called Bennett bay. Any help on these would be helpful. Also I'd like to fish some rocks in about 15 foot of water if anybody knows of any on the N. end I'd appreciate it.
Tnx to anyone willing to share a little info. Any fish I catch will be CPRed of course.

I believe Neechan bay is the politically correct new name for what most folks know as squaw bay. It has great weed beds and should be holding fish. Beauty bay has some nice beds as well. Fish the big bay there where the road loops around the bay on the east side. I usually find fish there.

Celebrated the national elections by going pike fishing. What could be better? A winner both ways!!
Chain lakes; 9 pike ranging up to 27"x4 1/2 lbs. bringing my total to 134. Thanks to Mark delaying his latest catch report, I get to be the leader but probably only for a moment. Beautiful day--50s, sunshine, glassy water. My next pike will probably be coming through a hole in hard water.

Why? I catch pike all winter long out of my boat without using any deadbait! I fish Hayden in the winter mainly as I know the holes they winter at but you could do the same on CDA or any other body of water that you can get a boat in. Read my article on how to catch winter pike here.

I will hopefully be adding to my years total on Sunday with a few more CDA pike. Going to hit the north end again. Had some spotty results last time out. We had some action, but only got 1 fish in the boat, but everyone had a bad day so we did about the same as all the other boats.

Where are you Fish N Fool ? Your numbers aren't adding up to the best tally for the year. Are you holding back? I'm fishing tomorrow and then I'll update my totals for the year so far. Stay tuned for my latest tally. [flapper]

OK boys, here's my updated tally list of fish caught since my last post.

Oct 19th. 16 pike
Oct 23rd 11 pike
Oct 29th 5 pike
Nov 5th 4 pike
Nov 8th 6 pike
Nov 11th 1 pike (Slow day)
Nov 19th 13 pike
Nov 27th 8 pike
Dec 3rd 4 pike
Total for Oct 19 through Dec 3rd = 68 pike

68 added to my previous total of 131 has me at, yep. One short of 200. I'm sitting at 199 for the year. Guess that means I'll have to try to get out one more time.
It's been a great two months since my last tally count. The fish have been biting Glide baits, frogs and spoons, and we have been getting some real good quality fish. I'm glad to say the Packernut surpassed his personal best pike for the second time this year when he out fished me and put a nice 15 pounder in the boat on the 11th of November. You can see some of our photos in the report I posted over in the regular fishing reports section. I may not be done yet. I hope to get out and hit the 200 mark for the year. Hope everyone has been catching a ton of fish out there!!

Toodles,
AJ's Dad (The Pike Supremacist")
