Camping/Fishing at lake Takhlakh

Hi,

Has anyone fished out at Lake Takhlakh? I'm going this weekend and was looking for any tips on how to fish the lake.

what kind of fish are in this lake, is it goods fishing this time of year?

The lake contains eastern brook, rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout. Catchable rainbows and some broodstock rainbow are planted annually.

There's lots a great dispersed (free) camping in the area. Several nice spots very close at next door Ollalie Lk. Good fishing there too. HooDoo runs many of the FS campgrounds down that way at jacked up rates. IMHO, it's flat out theft of public resources that the Forest Service allows. Nearby Council Lk has good free camping too, as does the Cispus River. Take lots a bug spray with all the warm weather and recent snow melt the skeeters will be thick.

are there boat launch's at these lakes? are the campgrounds on the maps run by hoodoo and I will find camping in the area around the lake? Thanks

Ollalie lake has a ramp... but the last time i was out there it was a dirt ramp... all the free camping area's are first come bases...we end up a Kern's horse camp (free... but no lake)one year because EVERYTHING was packed...

Thank you for all of the replies. Below is a recap of my fishing/camping experience.

First morning I fished about 100 ft from my campsite from the shore (pretty shallow). I had a nice strike off a rainbow rooster tail and enjoyed some amazing views. I sadly lost the lure a short time later. I switched to Brown, Green, and even a black/white one to no avail. My son was rotating power bait and salmon eggs off a bobbers on the bottom or close (it was very shallow).

Later that day I tried fishing the areas to the left of the boat launch but it was also very shallow. There are two good spots that are deep but there were people there in the AM until around 11 and it was too late to fish (for me anyway). I did see that they caught fish there and seem to have done well.

Around 10 am I climbed down about 20 ft to a spot I could barely cast but was able to see 3 nice sized trout making ripples as they jumped at flies. Rooster tails, power bait/salmon eggs didn't seem to interest them and they finally swam away (I saw they came back about an hour later).

This was a family fishing trip so I had my 3 year old who I set up with the powerbait/Eggs. I didn't spend a ton of time on the lake but I saw enough trout that I'd love to go back. Hopefully next time I will have a boat/raft to take. I feel it is pretty vital on that lake to use a boat and you can access some great areas.
