westport camping?

Post by physher92 » Sat Mar 30, 2013 11:17 pm

Hey guys,

I'm gonna join the masses in a couple weeks and go check out the Westport jetty. just looking for some advice on where to camp? I don't really care how close it is to the jetty as long as we're within about a half hour ish. I'd rather have to make a little longer drive if its a cheaper and/or nicer campground.

any advice for catching the lings and seabass would be welcomed as well...I think I have the tackle down, but I'm not really sure how far on the jetty we should be walking out.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

There are two state parks close by, Twin Harbors and Grayland. Both are open and were pretty empty when I was there last week. $22 for a basic site. Twin Harbors is also reservable.

Fish lighter jigheads to target the mid water column for seabass. Heavier jigheads to fish the bottom for lings and cabezon. Twin harbors is a nice campground and just about 5-10min from the jetty. Also need a new fishing license and a discover pass to park at the jetty, but i think if you buy a campsite for a night the discover pass is included?

Thanks guys, just booked a campsite at twin harbors. I'll probably fish all sorts of stuff, hopefully catch a few. My expectations aren't too high as I know the jetty sees a lot of fishing pressure but hey, a two hour drive from seattle will make it a fun weekend trip!
