I've been reading reports in the Seattle P.I and they are catching herring and smelt.I watch them at North Camano dipping for them.It sounds like Coronet bay is the place to be.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

I was up at Coronet Bay 2 weeks ago. Jigged for about 2-1/2 hrs and had about 35 smelt. Not a great haul but way more than enough for a meal for my daughter and I. They are so rich and oily that one all you can eat meal of them a year is enough for me.

I usually find Oak Harbor marina to have better jigging than Cornet Bay. But its a bit of a tricky timing there at OH. It can be anywhere from December to March when the smelt are in. If you're too early or too late at OH, jigging sucks. Pretty easy to limit with your 10 lbs in a few hours when they are in.
