Newbie Question Re: Catch Record Card

Post by Jay K » Thu Aug 02, 2012 6:13 pm

I've never utilized a catch record card (nor fished saltwater). Can someone please clarify one issue re: the catch record cards for me: Online and in the regulations manual, it states that you receive your first catch record card free with purchase of your license. Additional cards cost extra. When I phoned the Cabela's in Idaho where I purchased the Washington license (Post Falls Cabela's), the person I spoke to said I needed to pay an extra $8.xx for the card. When I mentioned the first card free, she says "We're just a vendor. You'll have to contact WDFW." Then abruptly hung up on me.

Is this correct?

No, it is free. Unless you ask for the catch card (even from some Washington vendors), at the time of license sale, they don't give it to you. This person just didn't know what to do to give it to you after the purchase. I had the same thing happen to me for a sturgeon catch card one year. You will need to find someone who knows how to do it or call WDFW and find out if you can do it online or how to get it.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

If you haven't already got your catch card, go online to the wdfw online licensing page. https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .
If you've bought a Washington license in the past, you should already have an account, so just enter your wildlife ID and info to login. Towards the bottom of the page, it shows what licenses have already been purchased for the year. All you need to do is check the box next to the catch record card, and submit. They will send you another copy of your fishing license with the catch card for free.
