Abu Garcia C-7000 Levelwind Reel Vs. Warefare

Any one use this for a downrigger reel?

Im in the market....

I was thinking of picking one up..

Or maybe a Penn Warefare.....

If you are willing to spend the money on an Abu 7000 and plan to use it in salt, I'd suggest getting the Shimano Charter Special instead. Probably the most common and affordable lever drag reel sold for the past 20 years. The 1000 series reel will handle just about anything you'll find in these waters.

Ive a Abu Garcia C-7001 Ambassadeur Casting Reel and love it.

+1 on this. I have a fleet of the charter special reels and they get used and abused and never let me down
