I picked up an old Daiwa baitcaster at a garage sale. Its in pretty good condition and casts well as far as I know. What type of line should I put on it, and what is a good rod that it might work on.

What specie of fish are you going to fish for? What lures do you plan on using with it? What conditions, lake, rivers, ocean, logs, brush, weeds, rocks, open water?

I plan to use this as a bass reel, on lakes, in brush and weeds.

30 to 50 pound test braid. With 10 to 30 pound florocarbon for leader, say 5 to 10 feet long. Go to Limit Out Marine for more advice, lures, techniques and such, and to buy the proper line. :-) For jigs, and senkos/worms, try Heavy Core by Tuffline.
