I have a question on using braided line. When you snag up while casting ,does anyone have an idea on releasing your gear . Yesterday I snagged up in salt water. I tugged ,released tension and line and ended up cutting my line losing a good amount of line . The bad thing is now there is 50 feet of line just laying in the water. A hazard to props and sea life. Any Tips???

Race, are you using a mono leader of smaller test? If not , it's recommended. I run a 5-6' leader of 10-12# mono test on my 30# braid. That way the leader breaks. I've never met a snag that caused me to cut the braid. Either the leader goes, the knot fails, or the hook bends out before the braid breaks.
Additionally, if the braid itself snags on something, try wrapping the line around a heavy piece of stick (not your fingers) and use that to pull until the braid breaks (if possible). Most likely the braid will break at the obstruction (hopefully) and minimize the amount of braid left in the water.

Excellent. I will use mono . I just tied a stainless swivel to the braid and the spoon on the swivel. All my hooks now are mono now. I tied a few braid hooks up with egg loops but it didn't pull out same as mono does. Thanks Bent.

yeah, use a mono/fluoro leader and i use a thick glove and wrap the braid around my hand and pull it out, with the glove you dont even feel the braid. braids to expensive to cut off lol

If you're using 50 pound braid you can tie it to the boat and idle forwards to break the line. But mono/floro leader of lesser test is best.

When using Braid , I always just use a mono leader..... have only broke off my Braid once, all the rest is at the mono...

Wrap it around a stick or something and give it a yank. 9 out of 10 times it breaks at the knot.
