Help with Lowrance Elite 5 ti
OK, so I was running my (new to me) Lowrance Elite 5 ti sonar, on the lake today. This unit I have used about 5x, and it’s always been solid.
Today, I ran my fingers across the screen to dust it off a bit.
Forgot the screen is touch controlled like a cell phone.
Oops! Screen went to black, nothing visible. When I turn unit on/off, it will do the initial light up showing Lowrance logo,, then poof! Black screen, although I know unit is still on because if I touch the black screen it will beep as though active.
Any Lowrance users care to comment?
G-man, I think you run a Lowrance?

If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say you inadvertently dimmed the screen to its lowest level. Throw a blanket over you and the unit and have a look. Alternately, after you turn on the unit, tap the power button (don't press and hold) and you can step through the preset backlight levels.

Good idea, blanket tonight.
At one point I thought I saw a faint image, but wasn’t sure (while in heavy sunlight)

I don't know if its the same with yours but I had the same thing on my new HDS and learned that repeatedly pushing the power button cycles through the brightness.

Kodcachers,
Can you clarify? You learned what?
Edit: Sorry, re-read your post. I gotcha.

I learned that if you press the power on button several times on the HDS unit it cycles through all the brightness settings, so if the unit is dimmed to its lowest setting, by pressing that button eventually it will come back to full brightness. Pretty handy.

Yes, the key to remember is not to hold down the power button, just a quick press and release to let you cycle through the backlight levels one at a time.

Well, blanket party with the Lowrance is over.
Thanks guys! That was the answer to the issue. Powered up, then tap, tap, tap, on power key.
Lights back on.
