Looking for mechanic Bellevue / Issaquah

Hello,

We just purchased a small fishing boat with a 30 hp outboard. I would like to find a good mechanic on the east side(Bellevue/ Issaquah area) to check it out / do a first service on it for me. Do you have any suggestions?

Just to clarify, this is our first boat, so I'm new to all of this!

Thanks!

Sorenson Marine is the only reliable marine shop that I know of. They are in seattle though

I used to go to Eastside Marine in Issaquah, but unfortunately they seem to have closed shop. Three Rivers Marine in Woodinville might be an option, but I have no experience with them. I haven't heard any great reports on I-90 Marine in Issaquah, their online reviews are mixed.

What make/age of OB is it?

Best of luck.

Thanks for the info both of you!

It's a 2009 30 HP merc EFI, has the hydrolic lift and the electronic ignition.

They (Three donkeys and a Goat) ruined my fishing buddies boat and refused to make good on it. About $10k in engine repairs and having the mold, mildew and yuck removed from the cabin and after that he had to buy a new OB. I wouldn't trust them with my Ex-Wife!

Can you do simple things like change spark plugs, replace water pump impellers, drain and refill lower unit oil? Not a lot of maintenance involved on this motor.

If you are generally handy with things, I'd recommend you spend the money you'd pay for an hour's service and get the Mercury Service Manual for your engine, while at it, you might consider getting an owner's manual if you don't have one.

With both manuals, some common hand tools, and some time, you can do your own service without the need for finding someone who will do a better job than you. [thumbup]

Hey, thanks for the advice. I do have the manual. I should be able to do that.

Which manual do you have, owner's manual or service manual? The owner's manual will cover routine maintenance items like lower unit lube, and spark plugs but not the impeller service. You need a service manual for that one, and I recommend you not waste money on an aftermarket manual like a Seloc or other imposter nor the copyright infringing "online manuals". Get the real deal, it's worth every penny. Available from any authorized Mercury dealer. [wink]

Here's my go-to guy, Troy... independent, super nice, fair, and he'll come to your location, no problem!
