looking for some tips on how to transport my 9.8hp motor when I don't have a boat trailer. so if I threw on my 12' into the truck bed, we see there's no room but in the boat.
I don't want like any of the gas flowing into or out of carb, bending the mount screws, damage skeg/prop.
What's a good proper way of doing this?

Re: Transporting outboard motor
Depends on the motor. Look up the manual on-line and it will show you how to transport it on its side. Most of the ones I have seen have you place the tiller on top with the motor on its side - but you need to check for your specific motor.
Re: Transporting outboard motor
Most outboards have two little resting blocks on the side of the motor that you lay it on. Check to see if yours has these, also run your motor dry of gas then you will have no issues there. I have seen a lot of guys lay there engines in the boat, the best way is to use a heavy (moving) blanket as a buffer and one strap and you should be fine.
If you need a picture of the what the little blocks look like I can post one for you.

Just google it Or try "how to transport (insert your motor here)"
Many outboard owner manuals are available free on-line.

Here you go, some outboards have them some don't. Just depends on the age. So on mine if I wanted to store in on its side I could lay it down on the port side towards the floor, you can see the feet that would support the engine and not damage the hood.
