carpet in boats

Post by FishingFool » Sun Jan 18, 2015 12:32 am

Bad news for a boat stored outdoors?

Hard to clean?

My current boat has a little bit of carpet on the port and starboard. Majority is vinyl. Love how easy it is to scrub and clean. Hate the look of the carpet

I'm eyeballing a new boat, but they don't offer an interior on this model with vinyl or spray surface. They might in the future though.

Nothing wrong with my boat. I'm sure the carpet feels good between the toes and help with a bit of cushioning. But the way I see it, if I want some durable cushion, ill slap down one of those rubber anti-fatigue mat.....

The anti fatigue mats aren't UV proof, and deteriorate rapidly outdoors, at least my friend's did at his front door. I guess you could keep it removable. There are a lot of surfaces that clean well and are durable, while deadening noise. Sprayable truck bed liners are good, and some carpets are pretty good. I just use a pressure washer, gently.
