Outboard motor data

Post by andyrebele » Thu Oct 09, 2014 4:07 pm

My company is designing an electric outboard motor, and we'd like to get some data on how motors are used by fishermen. If you currently boat frequently (maybe a fishing guide or just someone who fishes often), and you use an outboard of 40 HP or less (or you have a larger one but never run it over 40 HP), then it would be useful for us to put some instrumentation on the boat during one or more of your fishing trips, to see information on distance, speed, fuel consumption, acceleration, etc.

I would appreciate hearing from people who would be willing to let us gather such information. Please let me know which outboard you use (power, brand), how frequently you go out, how far or how long you typically go, and where you go. We're in Seattle, so we'll be biased toward those who are close by, but one of our engineers is in Gig Harbor, so that would be a convenient location, too.

You can contact me by sending a private message here on this forum.

Thanks!
