Repacement of Lund SV16 transom board?

Post by retirednfishing » Fri Jun 13, 2014 8:37 am

New to this website. When my friends and I want to fishing we look at your website for valuable information. =D>
I bought this past winter my retirement toy [thumbsup].
A 1997 Lund SV16 aluminum boat with a 25hp Yamaha engine.
Boat runs and works great.
I have looked at Iboats website and Youtube on how to replace the transome wood, have a little transome flexing.
Would like to to know if anywone here has replaced their Lund transome wood?
Would like any comments on what steps to take. And if this a minor or major job.
Thanks
Thomas Richardson

Though I have never replaced on a Lund, I did re-do a transom on an older 12 ft aluminum boat... was pretty easy to do and cheap.... My sled I have now has no wood so ever... It is box channel aluminum and welded and bolted in place.... best part is, nothing to rot EVER..... I would think if you did it with aluminum it would be plenty strong... I have a 70 hp on mine and no flex at all..... I had a crack back there that i fixed when I bought it but that was due to towing not motor force or flex...
