Northwest Fishing Reports

My daughter and I are probably heading to Lake Tapps this weekend. I've never been there before and have no idea how the lake is laid out. Are there multiple boat launches and are any of them better than others? We'll be going after bass and tigers, are there any particularly good locations we should try that you wouldn't mind sharing. We'll only be going for one day, so time is going to be pretty valuable. Thank in advance. This website rocks.

As far as the launches, there are 2. The southern launch at Alan Yorke park in Bonney Lake is currently open and free with a "use at your own risk" stipulation. There is plenty of water to launch just fine so I wouldn't hesitate to use this one (can't beat the price... for now). I talked with city hall yesterday, and they are estimating a July 20th opening date for the launch (when you have to start paying) The other launch is to the north at the county park, I think it's $10 to launch and park.

I will be there on Saturday launching from Allen Yorke (for now, until they start charging - refuse to give that city my money). Will be happy to show ya around. What day and time do you plan on going? Don't have a whole lot to offer, but will be happy to give ya what I do have.

We'll probably be there Sat. morning, not sure what time. What do they mean by "use at own risk" ? That right there makes me a little nervous. Is there trouble with vandals or something ?

It means the lake isn't at full pool and if you use their launch and damage your boat don't complain to the city. Don't worry about it, plenty of large boats are using that launch and the police hang around the park on most days. Watch your speed on those streets though, it slows down to 20 MPH near the park and it's a real money maker for the city.

Actually, I think I'll be using the north ramp. After looking at a few maps, the areas I'd most likely target are more on the north end of the lake anyway. I'd rather use up a little bit of diesel in my truck than a bunch of gas in the boat. The lake looks to be pretty good sized. Skeeter bassin, or anyone else for that matter, if you're out there and you see a tan and brown river sled, that's me. Swing by and say hi.
