HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
I want to try fishing with a corkie and yarn... I have no idea how to set this up. Does anyone have a picture of how to set this up? Or can describe how to do it.
I would greatly appreciate it!

Tom. Thanks for the quick reply. It looks to be the time to learn how to tie the egg loop!

There is a 'how to' section? Guess I'll go look for it. :-)

Did you find a good site to learn the egg loop?sellis_414 wrote:Tom. Thanks for the quick reply. It looks to be the time to learn how to tie the egg loop!
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I just typed it into "Bing" and it came up with a video and ya the knot was simple to learn.

RE:HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
sellis, this is my 1st year really figuring out drift fishing and along with that - corky and yarn. This is what I have been using this season. I would be interested to read what others think.
Hope I didn't compress the pics too much.
Pic #1 - I start with a snell knot. (See how to tie it here: http://www.netknots.com/html/snell_knot.html )
Pic #2 - Make sure the knot is tight, then slide the knot up the shaft of the hook (I push it with my thumb nail).
Pic #3 - Push leader back through the eyelet making a loop.
Pic #4 - Put your yarn through the loop.
Pic #5 - Pull the leader back out, closing the loop and pulling the knot back down to the eyelet of the hook.
Pic #6 - A little fluffing of the yarn back over the hook and VIOLA.
I went this way because I already knew and was comfortable with the snell knot. I can tie up a bunch of leaders, then add or replace yarn at will.

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker
RE:HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
that sounds a lot easier than doing an egg loop...after tieing about 5 egg loops, my hands start to cramp up.

Yup exactly the same way my dad and I tie our corky rigs.Gringo Pescador wrote:sellis, this is my 1st year really figuring out drift fishing and along with that - corky and yarn. This is what I have been using this season. I would be interested to read what others think.

I can tie about a dozen an hour. I take them to appointments where I will have to wait and tie up hooks and leaders. Right now I have 6 dozen tied and working on the 7th and 8th.

RE:HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
Once you get your hooks all set up... Do you use a 3 way swivel to attach the weight and leader? And generally how far off the bottom do you want your yarnie and corkie to be?

RE:HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
it depends i never run more than 48 inches and nos shorter than 24 inches and i just go to a snap swivel tie a loop into the leader and rin pencil lead or slinky

RE:HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
On the snap swivel where the snap connects could you tie your leader to that and put a no snag sinker on the snap? (Which was why I was thinking using a 3 way swivel.) I just wasn't sure on the depth you want your yarnie and corkie.curado wrote:it depends i never run more than 48 inches and nos shorter than 24 inches and i just go to a snap swivel tie a loop into the leader and rin pencil lead or slinky

RE:HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
you can but by doing that you destroy the snap part most of the time unless you tie it to the eye the snap is on

RE:HELP!!! Corkie and Yarn setup?
Copy that. When you referred to the no more than 48 and no less than 24... Is that your leader length or depth from the bottom for the corkie and yarnie? Sorry if this is annoying!
Thanks for all your help!

He is talking leader length.
I go shorter leader in murky water and longer in clear water.
