Catfish

Post by sarelvd87 » Fri Aug 21, 2009 12:31 pm

Hi im new to this forum so if i ask some stupid questions please for give me. I am from the spokane area and i am looking to catch some catfish. I have been told that Fernan Lake in Couer D alene has some pretty decent size ones. This is were i have gone in the past but recently they started construction around the lake and its kind of hard to fish there now. So i am wondering if there are any places fairly close to spokane that i could possibly try catching a cat. If anyone is aware of such a place do tell. I herd from someone that long lake has catfish. Anyone know anything about that.?

almost every lake in spokane has catfish(bullhead). Long lake, horseshoe, clear, downs, liberty to name a few.

As indicated, Bullhead are in a lot of the local lakes, but in typical fashion for bullhead, they tend to run small.

Hauser Lake in Idaho has some monster Channel Cats in it. I use to catch some 10+ pounders in it, but I don't fish it much right now. Of course it also has some bulls in it, and for bullhead, they run pretty good size in Hauser.

Sprague had some monster Channels in it before they killed it off, and they were suppose to put them back in. If they did, then in a few years you could see some bigs one back there. My son caught a 14 lb channel there a few years back.

I don't know of any other Channels until you go to the Snake River down south.
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
