man, i've been seeing a few pics or golden and tiger trout and im kinda jealous, i've never gotten either, anybody got any pics and/or advice?

I have yet to catch either of them, but its my dream to catch a Golden someday... :compress:

It's pretty easy to catch Tiger Trout at Fish Lake in Spokane County. I beleive there are a few lakes in the state that have a majority population of Tigers and/or Goldens. Check the fish stocking info on the WDFW site for which lakes are stocked with what.

I know Dusty lake in Quincy wildlife area has tigers. Lenice has tigers too, the state record was set last year at Lenice for the tiger trout, small species, it 6lbs and some cahnge for the state record and I heard there are a couple of state record swimming around in dusty

From what I understand about the golden trout is that they are more common in the high mountain lakes

But......... I havnt caught either fish, still tryen. So that is about where my tips for these fish end LOL

I caught a couple of tigers, always on a brown leach pattern or a wooly bugger. Honestly nothing too exciting about them. I have never caught a Golden. Goldens are only in high mountain lakes. The state planted some in the 20 or 30's in the Olympic and Cascades. They are native to the Sierra of N Ca and Nv

there are several Alpine Lakes, high up in the Cascades that have Golden's.

Golden Trout like high elevations. Below is a picture of one. The official Washington State Record is 3.91 pounds out of an unknown lake in Okanagon County. I checked out the stocking of them on the WDFW's website, and a few lakes in the northern puget sound area have stocked small quantities of these beauties. These lakes include Crawford Lake, Crystal Lake, Edds Lake and Jake's Lake.(http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/plants/regions/reg4/index.htm). Also, 200 were planted in Sidle Lake in Okanagon County this year. Best of luck catching these beauties. I wish I had more time to attempt the challenge. I would love to catch one!

I caught a Golden Trout in California, I had to hike a long ways, but the views were worth it.
I dont think I would make that hike today.:bigsmurf: They are in high elevation lakes, so
they dont get very big. I was going for a grand slam, that trip; rainbow, cutthroat, brown,
and golden. Didnt get my brown. I think that was a chance I'll never have again in one trip.

It has been years since I have caught Golden Trout. In fact it was 20 years ago and in the central Idaho mountains. Me and a buddy hiked in to Josephus lake for a couple of days of camping and fishing. We caught 10" or so Golden Trout that were planted in the lake each year by helicopter!! Anyway a very beautiful and rare fish.

As for Tiger Trout, it seems that, from looking at the state planting records, they are getting more and more common on Central and Eastern Washington lakes and streams. I have caught them regularly in Fish Lake (Spokane Co.) Crab Creek (Central Washington) and Black Lake (Stevens County). In Black Lake I have caught Tigers in the 18" range with some regularity over the last couple of years. They seem to like quick motions from buggers in black and olive. I have some patterns that have red beadheads that seem to work well as well.
