"Free Fishing Weekend"
Got the WDFW Weekender report yesterday and they are pushing the free fishing weekend (June 9-10). I was wondering, do people really take advantage of that? Are we going to see another huge influx of people on the lakes like opening day?
RE:"Free Fishing Weekend"
On the dry side of the state you normally only see a few more wives in boats and a couple more shore fisherman, but nothing like the zoo we call opening day

Sometimes some un-named lakes get a boost of huge fish right before the free fishing weekend.
RE:"Free Fishing Weekend"
Iv never gone out on the free fishing weekend. Iv always had my licence and just figured that all the lakes/docks/shores would just be packed. But I do know that they do plant a couple of lakes with a few more fish for this weekend. But when is it this year anyway
RE:"Free Fishing Weekend"
I've taken some non-fishing friends out on that weekend to try and ge them interested in the sport. About 50% end up taking up fishing as a hobby.

I think that Idaho has free fishing on the same weekend, but they limit it to just saturday:-s Go figure. Why not make it a free fishing weekend? Check the Id regs to be sure:thumright

It's up to us (the liscensed fisherman) to make the free fishing weekend a success. People who don't fish don't now about this opportunity. So tell your friends and take someone out that day. I bet you will be responsible for getting a friend hooked on our favorite outdoor sport.:compress:

I think it will go over pretty well, provided the word is spread. It's a great opportunity for people who might only fish once or twice a year, and would not otherwise purchase a licence to go out and experience the wonderful sport. I am going to be up in the mountains that weekend for my birthday, and with any luck me, along with my wife (who rarely fishes) will be able to fish and drink a cold one together.
Spread the word, it only takes one time out to get 'hooked!' The bigger the fishing community, the greater the impact we have on rules and regulations. Have fun guys.
