I'd say this fish would go about 2lbs. It looks like a river fish, more sleek than one you'd catch in a lake. CNR? I'd have bonked it and left it for the buzzards.

Shoot, I just CNR'd a carp. I couldn't bring myself to hurt the ugly critter.

I'll say 1.5 - 2 pounds

1.75 is my guess. It looks like a cat.Nice deep coloring for a squawfish.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Weight? Before or after I cut it from stem to stern, drop the guts into the water, smash the head into rocks, and then "release it"?

How is that for CNR?
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

Hey man, for 4 bucks I would have carried the thing around all day...

Engine is coming along - spent the day saturday pulling the thing apart - parts arrive tommorrow, so far so good

The reassembly / getting it to run part is what scares me..

I'm all in now though, I just spent 100 bucks in parts.

Spokane River - Nice catch for the fight yes, but not exactly the targeted species. Caught it on a single hooked spinner, he hit is as soon as a cast it in the water on the fall.

Was a good fight, but I would have prefered a trout.

When I'm fishing Lk Wa and I catch a Squawfish I dont outright kill it either. I leave it on the dock .If it falls back in it lives. If it dont Oh Well!!!Its never a waste to kill fish like that .There is something on that Lk that will eat it.Be it a eagle ,hawk, seagull,or heron.Nothing goes to a total waste .Squaw do wipe out salmon eggs and small fry.

We have those on the snake river. I caught one about that size on a spinner once. If you don't want to kill it or turn itin for the bounty just toss it up on the bank. I know around here we have a lot of Musk rats, raccoons, river otters, coyotes and water foul that would love a free fish snack. They destroy salmon habitat.. so that mean it has to go in my book. ;)
