Has anyone been to Beaver Lake in Issaquah recently?

Due to the lack of fish right now on Lake Washington I was thinking strongly about fishing Beaver Lake in Issaquah. Has anyone been out there this time of year, and how is this lake fishing? Do those fish they stocked months ago spawn now? Or do they feed? Am I best to troll this lake with leaded line, or just find a deep hole and anchor and worm/powerbait it. I've been out there several times plunking in December without any luck, but I am just wondering if anyone had done well in late Jan. early Feb. Lake Washington has cooled off so much I would encourage all to not even waste the time and money in fuel finding these fish, as I think most of them are either in deep water, or up in the creeks and rivers spawning. Thanks for any current info on Beaver. All the best, Rutt

All I've heard from friends is slow fishing still. Fish are few and far between...

I"m sorry that I can't offer Beaver lake advice..... but can anyone tell me if Beaver has gas restrictions? The lake report cover sheet doesn't say either way.

Thanks Sam. Beaver Lake, along with many others, allows NO GASOLINE OR COMBUSTIBLE MOTORS.

Can't use gas engines on that lake. Can't even have them on the back of your boat tilted out of the water...

I wouldn't reccommend going out there with too big of a boat either... It'll take a small boat w/ a very shallow draft to go to the best areas in that chain.

I haven't made it out there recently due to some boat issues. Best of luck to you if you decide to give it a shot. Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly do you plan to catch trolling with leaded core line?

No, don't worry about the ignorance part ;) I catch lots of fish this way because it allows me to troll near or on the bottom with an array of lures and baits. Works great for lakes that are deeper than the average 20 feet.

i've seen boats out there with tilted gas engines. wonder what kind of trouble they can get into for that.

I dont know about fishing there now, never have. I fished there in December and it was very slow. me brother and i got none, no bites or anything. one person on the shore had 1 fish, i small one. also, i think its in the city of Samamish, not issiquah, but it doesnt really matter.

That's weird Sam. I saw a 12' red Lund on Beaver during the broodstock plant with a motor in the water (off) and assumed it was yours. I had been looking for yours that day and thought I found it. Strange coincedence.

The largest boat I'd recommend out there is a 16' alumi. Beaver Lake is very shallow (in leaded line terms) until you find the north lake (PM me if you want to find it) or until about the middle of the lake farther than the first point. I was trolling there one day and I learned a ton about the bottom contour. There was one spot very very near the place I caught my big trout that you can see in my report that I measured with my rod as under 5'6 deep. Then it dropped off to about 30' where I caught my trout.

Long story short, I wouldn't bother with leaded line. Just the flatfish and 3/8 ounce sinker will do. Or plunking. At this time of year I'd just plunk and attempt to stay warm.

It is slow fishing now. I did find a couple inlet streams on a recon trip when I knew I wouldn't catch any fish. Good for bass fishing later this spring/summer. If you can find one of the streams, fish for trout there hard.

I was there 2 sundays ago and 3 sundays before that with a friend.I saw a fish aday caught. The best area was on the point facing the launch area.I fished from the park using white and green Power eggs.I caught nada.Take large slip sinkers if you plan on fishing from shore.People on boats faired better the shore anglers.

Awesome racfish! I think I might hit it up real early on Sunday and head down towards the other end of the lake and plunk powerbait with worms. If I see you out there I'll say hi! Look for me in a raft!
