Northwest Fishing Reports

So they are opening lake Washington for coho on sept 16 thru oct 31st. I wanted to give it a try this Saturday but I have never tried it I wanted to see what you guys have to say. I have a basic idea on where to go but was wondering if anybody has ever tried that and if so is the fishery worth while, what kind of gear, what time of day, etc..

You are better off hitting the Sound at this time. According to the counts at the locks, just over 3,000 fish have made their way into the lake at this time.

I do good in the sound but want to try something different. Plus the derby is Saturday and I'd rather not fish the big crowds

It can be productive one day and lock jaw the next. I enjoy the fishery. Here's a video we did last year:

Cool. I have had success in the past jigging with a 2 oz point Wilson dart type jig also. And wiggle warts work too. You can check out the reports history for lake washington, and use the species filter to pull up just coho reports. There is a lot of great info in those reports to mine. Good luck!

Out of curiosity, what's the difference between a wiggle wart and a bass crankbait? They look the same to me.

Why are wiggle warts so popular with salmon?

good question. I think the wiggle warts have a more solid hook appropriate for big salmon and steelhead. Maybe others more knowledgeable can weigh in?

So I want to try and catch my first coho and get my son his first as well. Should I try Lake washington or MA10 our of shilshole? I have not seen any reports for LW and this says two things to me no one is fishing hard to believe that one, or no one wants to share? I have noticed this year on the form no one is sharing the experiences on the water as much as prior years past. Anyway like I said LW or MA10 on Sunday morning and willing to stick with it all day if needed. Thanks for the help, Eric

Hmmmm... there will be fish in lake washington, question is how lock jawed? It's so frustrating to see them not biting. I'd fish salt, still plenty out there. Rivers are what most are reporting on now.

Thanks Mike, got the boat ready and going to try my luck at a crabbing as well. Hope this weather blows by overnight. Hunting season is coming next weekend so I will be giving the deer and elk all my attention for a month or two. I hope to hit Lake Wa sometime during the next week if time works out. Oh shoot, got my pots ready, bait loaded in the truck got all wet. After checking online area 10 is closed and don't think I am going to run that far north to set pots so just unloaded the truck in the rain again....oh the joy. Next time out will try our luck. Fish on!!!! lol.
