WL.COM videos

Lately, I've been watching some of the videos here at wl.com. What a great feature. Kudos to Marc and Mike and Aaron, and all the folks involved. If you go to the blue menu bar at the top of the page and click on Members, then Videos you can see what I mean. I've whiled away lots of time watching clips of some of my old favorite haunts and some new and unexplored waters. Awesome job folks. Many thanks.

It has been a productive year in the video department. 37 videos since last spring! I am making plans and I know Mike is for next years lakes. I am hoping that we get more contributions from members. The state is very large and has so many lakes. I am hoping that we get more submissions from One Shot. He incorporates some great ideas in his videos. The narrative in his Nisqually River video along with the blurry early morning driving scenes is great!

Mike and I have been trying to use music produced by independent artists that aren't signed to major record labels. If any of the readers are or know of musicians that might be interested in contributing music for the background, please let us know. I have found over the years that the musicians trying to make a break into the world market are very passionate and sincere about their music. I run across some great music just by visiting local venues. Instrumentals of new age, light classical, blues, folk, light rock and contemporary jazz work well with the videos. As a music lover, I know of a lot of music (Beck, Clapton, Jimmy Thackery, etc that would work well, but getting past ASCAP and their lawyers is difficult. If you use their music without their permission, well you have your hands full.

I hope that the video library continues to grow. It is a great way for someone to preview a lake that they have never been to before. And like Joe says, it is a great way to escape the winter doldrums.
