I am new to this site and I am looking for a little help...I have recently been "reeled in"(a little fish humor) to fishing and I have been able to "bait" my 7 year old daughter into spending time with me as she enjoys catching fish too. However, we have had no luck over the last couple weeks. Her first time out back in june she limited out on trout at panther lake before I could even get my line in the water. I have been to several lakes with her over the last couple weeks and the lack of hits is killing her interest. Where in kitsap county are the fish hitting? We have been to wildcat, island, long, tiger and panther. Also, we have been pier fishing as daddy does not have a boat

I have used all sorts of power baits: chartruese, white, orange, and even the garlic stuff.

SALTWATER:
Any local crabbing spots that produce leagal sized dungies? traveled out to suquamish and caught a bunch of reds.

oh, and while I am at it...what is the best set up for catching salmon? Where can I catch salmon from a pier?

I hope my questions are not to overbearing, thank you in advance to all who answer.

I know that young anglers need lots action to keep their interest alive. Try Horseshoe Lake. It has a population of bass, blue gill and perch that should provide lots of action with bits of nightcrawler fished near the bottom. Good luck.

I live in north Kitsap myself and as you've noticed, trout aren't biting much now that it's warmed up, so I wouldn't target them again until maybe September. Panther, Tiger and Wildcat have all done well for me, during trout season. Another two you might consider are Sandy Shore and Leland in Jefferson County.

And you can't go wrong with any advice from Bob. I've only done Horseshoe in Kitsap once, last August, and I did get bass and perch. They were all pretty small but the action was constant which is what most matters to kids. I actually think you'd do better now than I did then and have been considering it myself again. Besides, there's a tree there that has a Rapala of mine!

Give me a nudge during the fall and maybe we can both head out together. I have an inflatable that I fish from and have added a hard floor and 2 pedestal seats. They could be removed if we wanted to make room for a third. Good luck.

I have been throwing Rapalas for almost 50 years and still land one in a tree now and then. The latest was earlier this year at Jackson Lake.

Yes I have notice the trout are being quite elusive. I appreciate your offer and may take you up on that.

Might want to hold off on visiting Horseshoe lake for a bit. Looks like they've closed access anyway.

Wow! Thanks for that information. I had heard nothing of it. So Horseshoe is out for the near future, at least!
