Northwest Fishing Reports

I'm just curious where I can take my daughter to go fishing? We've been to a few places around Graham and Eatonville. Never caught a trout yet. She like to fish off of the docks. We always get perch and nothing else. We have a boat but nothing to pull it with yet. Just looking for a kid friendly place to fish, Thanks!

Not sure how far you care to travel, but I took my daughter to Swofford Pond. Not the greatest spot, but it is quiet, and can fish from the bank...or small boat (no internal combustion engines allowed). I have fished it several times usually catching some Bluegills, Large Mouth and Small Mouth Bass, Catfish. I have yet to drag any Trout from there, but a family that was fishing 50 meters to the west of me this past weekend caught a nice 13" or 14" Rainbow on a worm and bobber. There is also Spanaway Lake, never fished it, not positive on how the fishing is there. Not sure how hardcore you or your daughter are (whether you are willing to walk a bit to find a spot), but there are several small lakes along Hwy 7 a few miles south of the Eatonville cutoff. Rapjohn, Cranberry, Silver, Kreger, Swan. Not sure exactly how many of those are private...or fishable, but check for any reports, and read through the regulations. If they are not listed in either, good chance they are private. You may be able to butter someone up and get permission to fish anything private. Anyrate, hope that helps out.

About a half hour or 45 minute drive from eatonville is the town of Mineral and lake Mineral. This is a GREAT trout lake, one of the best in the state. They get huge plants of rainbows. Big bows, regular sized bows and triploid bows. They also get a nice stock of brown trout, and some years they get cutthroat and steel head. There is a dock that they charge $5 to fish from and a public aces area with a dock, but I would recommend fishing from the dock that you pay for. 3 power eggs on a hook. An orange then a yellow and another orange all in a row single file. Then add a little krill grease or some shrimp smelly jelly or mikes shrimp oil. This lake closes down pretty soon, so the sooner the better. Also they have row boats for rent for $20 a day.
