Fishing with the kids

Hi All,
I am looking for a couple of good spots in the Redmond area, to get my stepsons hooked on fishing. We took them to Jakes pond (thanks to a tip from the secret lake forum) a couple of weeks ago where they each caught their first fish. We need bank or dock fishing access. I was thinking about trying Phantom Lake, but not sure if that will work as the lilly pads look like they are taking over. All we want to do is catch and release and it would be nice to find somewhere not packed with people. We don't mind hiking in as long as it is not miles and miles. I just moved up here from Yelm, so I don't know any of the good spots. I would love to find a spot with lots of sunfish or crappie.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Kris

Try Crescent Lake in the Snoqualmie Valley off of High Bridge Road near Monroe. It is loaded with crappie and sunfish.

you should really try phantom lake. i fished thier today and finaly caught some nice sized perch (20 or 25). i also caught around 6 or 7 small bass today to. it may be a little difficult with the pads but as long as you and your kids can cast acurratly you will be o.k. And if thats hard, there are lots of sunfish under the dock, and sometimes the small perch sized bass will take the worms by the dock also. Its pretty good for kids also because you dont need alot of patients to fish thier. your bobber will go down in like 6 seconds so that good.

How far are you willing to go from Redmond? I can think of lots of stuff, but some will take an overnigt, which is all the better if you ask me.

Hello again,
We have fished Phantom lake now a couple of times. It has been fun for the kids and us too! The few people who come up on the dock are also very nice. We have caught a TON of perch, a few nice ones about 8-9". We also caught a few LMB the biggest ones were about 7", all with worms and a bobber and all the fish were released.
quadradomus: We would love to find someplace to overnight or weekend camp. We are actually looking for a good place to go where we can fish, camp and watch the meteor shower in a couple weeks. So if anyone has any ideas they would be welcome.
Thanks for all the tips, this is a great website!

i went to Phantom Lake today for about an hr, ~4-5PM. Not a single bite. A lot of lilly pads is an understatement. It's FULL of lilly pads. Looks like there's also tons of tall long weeds on the bottom too, so I didnt bother with a bottom setup. I used the bobber with ~3-4 ft leader. But with the bobber, it kept floating around, and got behind the pads. So with each retrieve, I lost the bait. Or lost a hook when I tried to retrieve.
Also, the water looks disgusting.
There appears to be a very nice dock, with the surrounds pretty clear, south of the public dock. But I'm pretty sure that's a private dock unfortunately.
